Love them or hate them, Manchester United are one of the most well know Football clubs around the world. With a rivalry with their neighbours Manchester City, and perhaps more famously Liverpool, their fans have often proved their devotion and 'skill' at supporting their club.

The club was formed in 1878 and was called Newton Heath L&YR F.C. - they wore shirts with green and gold halves. They dropped the L&YR after joining the Football League.

Some will argue that there are more famous Manchester United players, but for me Sir Bobby Charlton is the greatest of them. He was an ambassedor for football and had an illustrious Manchester United and England career.

He captained the 1968 Manchester United team that won the European cup, and celebrated much success with Manchester United and England, including picking up a World Cup winners medal in 1966.

He became player manager of Preston North End in 1973 and eventually became a director of Wigan Athletic. He became a member of Manchester United's board of director's in 1984

He was Knighted in 1994.

Memorobilia is a "record of things worth remembering".

Sports memorabilia makes an ideal gift; many people love collecting memorabilia, for instance a signed autograph of Bobby Charlton would be a prized collector's item. It can be a great investment, especially if you can buy memorabilia for young players - if you could have got a signed Rooney item several years ago, it'd probably be worth something now!

As a teenager I had my walls covered in my favorite sports stars; there was something really cool waking up surrounded by some of the best footballers in the world. One of my favorites was Pele, and I often woke up imaging my own exploits as I joined him in the Brazilian team - I didn't quite work out how a little English boy was going to end up playing for Brazil, but that didn't really matter.

The posters essentailly let me dream; they brought me into a world where I could imagine I was the star, and that these great players and teams were part of my life. It was fun, but now is nostalgic as I fondly remember the thoughts and dreams I had - it's a shame that I ended up as an accountant, and not as the next Bobby Charlton.

Even today I wear sports shirts. As I write this I am sitting here in my Philadelphia Eagles American Football shirt; upstairs I have my favorite England soccer shirt which I often wear proudly as England play games.

There's something comforting about wearing a sports short and showing off your 'colors' - be it pride, or love it is something that makes the wearer feel good.

Not only that, but I also find that sports shirts are always very well made - not sure if it's because the team whose name is emblazoned on them doesn't want to be embarrassed by shoddy work, or simply because sports fans won't put up with poor clothing.
