Christmas the word alone brings immediately, the spirit of holiday and enjoyment together, in the mind of the people, around the globe. To have the full merriment, a lot of preparations have to be done. This includes the preparation of list of all the members to be gifted, food items and also the decoration of both inside and outside the house.

Every year all the preparations have to be done to celebrate the Christmas in a wonderful and memorable way. While decorating the Christmas tree, the stand and the trunk of the tree will be big as well as less attractive to look at. In order to make the tree as a whole a beautiful piece for the Christmas, the lower part of the tree is covered with a Christmas tree skirt. This will further enhance the appearance of the Christmas tree.

The Christmas tree skirts are available in different pattern and textures in a series of departmental stores. Given below are some tips which you can use while buying a Christmas tree skirt for decorating the Christmas tree for Christmas.

  1. The Christmas tree skirt should be selected in such a manner that the size should fix correctly around the stand. It should not be little more or little less and also should not extend to the branches. So before going to buy the skirt, take correct measurement of the diameter of the tree. Do keep the skirt away from the path to avoid accidents and also fold the skirt at the edges if it is large enough for the Christmas tree.
  2. Make a decision, before buying the Christmas tree skirt that the skirt should be rich enough to attract more or simple that should look as a background to the Christmas tree. To have rich, the skirt can be bought in bright colors with unique patterns on it and for the latter case, just a simple plain color skirt will do.
  3. There is a way to decorate the tree. And the skirt will comes last. That is, first the Christmas tree should be placed in the stand in the appropriate position, secondly the water source to the tree, thirdly the decoration with ornament, fourthly the lights should be attached to the tree and finally sweeping all the pine needles, the skirt will be placed carefully to get a full finish of the Christmas tree.
  4. The Christmas tree can also be decorated with the skirt creatively by giving some meaning to it. The themed Christmas tree will be more attractive. The quilts, fleeces, patchwork quilt fabrics, calicos and burlaps can also be used.

It is not necessary to buy the skirt from the market. As said above it can be a quilt with some pattern. Just take the fabric taffeta or lush velvet, cut it to 4 to 5 yards long. Cover it around the bottom of the tree and tuck the portions which are protruding. It can be washed easily even it gets dirt and also can be changed frequently to have a different look.

And also you can make the skirt with a heavy felt. Just cut the felt to a largest circle. Then cut from one edge to the centre of the circle. Make a hole of diameter of 4-7 inches for an average tree in the center of the felt. Now you can fix the Christmas tree skirt to the trunk of the tree.
