Chrysoprace Gemstone

Chrysoprase is an opalescent apple green colored variety of Chalcedony gemstone with a hardness rating of 7. It is also a balancing stone representing money and prosperity and derives its color from the nickel content. The word Chrysoprase comes from the Greek word ‘chrysos prason’ which means ‘golden leek’. Chrysoprase is used for making jewelry and other ornamental objects and is often mistaken for Imperial jadeite. It is said by carrying this stone in the pocket and near the bed at night can help in speeding up healing of any wound. Chrysoprase is used as a shield or protector from negative energy and ideally should be kept in a small bowl by the front entrance of the home. This stone is also said to prevent depression and increase fertility. This is an excellent gemstone for relaxation and peaceful sleep.This stone is the Birthstone associated with the month of May. It is also the Birthstone associated with the Zodiac Sign of Gemini.

The reference of this stone can be found in the Book of Ezekiel. It should be preferably set in silver and has more power carved in the shape of a heart. Chrysoprase was said to be a "Victory Stone” and was used by Alexander the Great in battle. This stone is found in several places including Australia, Brazil, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Poland, South Africa, Russia and the US.
