Chuck Baldwin for President video
Who Is Chuck Baldwin?
This was a harder question to answer than I thought it would be. I don't know many people who have even heard of Chuck Baldwin. He is running for President. He is the candidate for the Constitution Party. I had never even heard of the Constitution Party. This took a little bit more work on my part than the earlier candidates I covered in this series.
Charles "Chuck" Baldwin was born in La Porte, Indiana on May 3, 1952 to Mr. & Mrs. Edwin J. Baldwin. He graduated from high school in La Porte in 1971, and then attended Midwest Baptist College for two years. He was married in 1973. He enrolled in the Thomas Road Bible Institute and graduated with a Bible diploma. He went on to receive a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in theology from Christian Bible College in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He has also receive two honorary doctor of divinity degrees from Christian Bible College and Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Florida.
He is a founder and pastor of the Crossroad Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida. In the early 80's, he worked in the Florida Moral Majority, to carry the state for the Reagan-Bush electors. He makes claims that he helped some 50,000 Christian voters register for that election. He left the Republican Party, siting that the George W. Bush-Dick Cheney ticket was too liberal.
He has spoke out publicly about what he views as further and further liberal leanings in the Republican Party, and endorsed the candidacy of Ron Paul during the primaries. He is also a radio talk show host where he moderates an hour-long, call in radio show focusing on conservative issues affecting those in the Florida panhandle. He is also an author, and a newspaper and Internet columnist.
Chuck Baldwin's running mate is Darrell Castle.

The Issues
Some information may be lacking, as there is less and less information available, the less and less well known the candidate is. I apologize, and will fill in gaps where I can as the days go on.
ABORTION: Pro-life candidate. Feels that human life begins at fertilization. Wants to overturn Roe v. Wade. Has said that abortion is "America's national holocaust." Supports Sanctity of Life Act, defining a fetus as a person.
BUDGET & ECONOMY: Wants to restore a debt free, interest free money system. No other specific information was available on this issue on Baldwin's website.
CIVIL RIGHTS: Feels that Patriotism is not love of Big Government or of Big Brother. No information pertaining to civil rights issues was found on Baldwin's website.
CORPORATIONS:Wants to restore a manufacturing base, and not mulitnational corporations. Wants to end corporate welfare and put people ahead of CEO's. Does not feel that any foreign country, whether ally or enemy should be allowed to own any part of the United State infrastructure, including businesses.
CRIME:Supports the right to bear arms as a measure of self defense. "The vast majority of the time (92%) the mere presence of a firearm helps to avert a major crime from occurring." (quote from Baldwin's website) No other information on his stance on crime was found on his website.
DRUGS: I found no information on Baldwin's stance on the issue of drugs.
EDUCATION:Wants to disband the Department of Education. He says that it is unconstitutional. He supports tax relief for homeschooling, private & religious schools. He claims that he will be the best friend homeschoolers ever had if elected to the White House. Feels that the education system in this country is deteriorating at a rapid pace.
ENERGY & OIL: Supports drilling in Alaska for domestic energy sources. Supports more drilling, more refineries, and more nuclear power plants.
ENVIRONMENT: A champion for property rights and opposes eminent domain abuse by the government.
FAMILIES & CHILDREN: Feels that parents should take their children to church and pray with them. A strong supporter of homeschooling.
FOREIGN POLICY: Supports ending international 'meddling'. Wants no US participation in the UN or in world court. Supports ending foreign aid, ending nation building and ending empire building.
FREE TRADE:No North American Union, no NAFTA Superhighway. Does not support merging the US into a North American Community. Supports withdrawal from the UN, NAFTA and NATO. Supports a tariff based revenue system for trade with other countries, based on costs for over-seas production vs. costs to produce it here. Feels a tariff system would be a step towards a fair trade policy that would create American jobs, and raise revenue for the country.
GOVERNMENT REFORM: Wants to eliminate the Food & Drug Administration, siting that it is unconstitutional. Opposes limits on free speech in campaign finance laws.
GUN CONTROL: Firm supporter of the Second Amendment. Says the Second Amendment protects our liberty. Baldwin is a member of Gun Owners of America and the NRA. Feels that the right to bear arms is a fundamental right and should not be infringed upon. Says he will oppose attempts to prohibit gun ownership by law abiding citizens. "To keep your family safe and your country free, go buy a gun!" (quote from Baldwin's website)
HEALTH CARE:Supports freedom of choice for all healthcare decisions. Does not support subsidies for HMOs, or forced vaccinations.
HOMELAND SECURITY: Wants to deploy a fully-operational strategic defense system. Does not want to reduce benefits to veterans and survivors. Supports a strong national defense. Feels that the Patriot Act violates the principles of the 4th and 5th Amendments. Feels there is no reason for us to be in NATO. Challenges the official story of what happened on 9/11.
IMMIGRATION: Says that GOP & Democrats both want open borders. Supports sealing the borders, no amnesty, no social services for illegals. No path to citizenship for illegals. Supports cutting off the money supply to dry up illegal immigration. Wants to end birthright citizenship. Repeal "anchor baby: loophole. Has spent time touring the border, and a supporter of border patrol.
JOBS:Wants to reimpose tariffs on all foreign imports to keep jobs here. American jobs are more important than the bank accounts of CEOs.
PRINCIPLES & VALUES: Married with three children and six grandchildren. Chaired Moral Majority, but later distanced himself. A critic of President Bush and Christian right supporters. Founder and pastor of Crossroad Baptist Church.
SOCIAL SECURITY: Wants to phase out the Social Security system.
TAX REFORM: Supports a 10% tax on all imports into the US, and no other tax. Wants to end income tax, death tax and property tax. Wants to repeal the 16th Amendment. No income tax & no sales tax.
TECHNOLOGY: Bypasses news media and uses the Internet to get political attention. Feels that Bush has built a universal surveillance society.
WAR & PEACE:Wants to develop an exit strategy for phased withdrawal of US troops. Opposed preemptive invasion and opposes occupation of Iraq. Wants to remove troops from Iraq, and offer bounties on terrorists. Supports safely extracting our troops from Iraq, and handing the country over to the Iraqi government.

Sadly, it isn't too different here in the US. I even asked a few friends and family members if they could name one independent or third party candidate that was running in this election, and one person said that they thought Ralph Nader was running again. (he is, and I will get his Hub done as soon as I can)
Anna Marie, thanks for performing this service by letting us hear about the more obscure candidates and their positions.
It's actually been fun! I enjoyed learning about the candidates and where they stand on the issues. Some of them have been very entertaining.
This guy is uber conservative on everything. I would rather see someone Like Ron Paul get voted in than Baldwin, but in the end only the top 2 parties have a shot...
Yeah, Baldwin has some extremely conservative views. I guess it takes people all across the spectrum. I would have liked to see more attention being brought to the third party and independent candidates, though. I am fed up with Obama worship, and I have a few issues with McCain. I am leaning more towards Bob Barr at the moment, but, you are right, only the top 2 parties really have a shot at winning the election.

Interesting hub especially for a South African. We only hear about Obama and Mcain and rarely if ever about independent candidates.
