The Citi mtvU Platinum Select Visa Card for College Students, issued by Citibank, is a credit card created mainly for students and has a unique reward program by which cardholders earn one point on general purchases and five points for every dollar spent at restaurants, bookstores, record stores, movie theaters, and video rentals. The program also rewards 25 points when payments are made duly and spending does not exceed the specified credit limit. On the basis of the student's GPA, points between 250 and 2,000 points would be awarded twice per year. These points would be redeemed for gift cards, CDs, a VIP mtvU Spring Break Pass, tickets to the MTV Video Music Awards, and airline tickets. Besides, there is a 75,000 yearly limit to the number of points that can be earned, and points expire in a term of five years. The card offers no annual fee, however, the interest rate for purchases and balance transfers is above average for a student card. There is a 0% introductory rate which is applicable to all transactions for the first six months and a minimum cap of 19.99% for cash advances.
