Citizen's Calibre collection includes both some of the most and least loaded watches the company makes. The former types include four sub-dials, up to five miniature hands (besides the main three) and a heavy matrix of numbers and scales of varying sizes. As a result, the dial looks like a small round map – one that the owner will have to learn to read and master. These are utility oriented chronographs and watches that will suit perfectly military men and women, as well as sportsmen and women: they reflect and condense the complex and elaborate schedule of these hard working people. These wrist timepieces are about discipline and rigor. They impart respect.

The other end offers items that border on the stylish. The number of subdials is reduced, and they can be arranged in elegant rhythmic patterns – a feat, considering the small area of the dial. Clear faces substitute the grids of numbers and letters, allowing for a smooth time-reading procedure. I don't think that there is a compromise: the more elegant items will suit different needs and occasions. All watches in the Citizen Calibre are given numbers (2100, 3100, 4700, 5000, 6000, 8700) which effectively assort the collection into mentioned subdivisions. Calibre pieces will never need a battery, and most of them include an alarm. The more exclusive ladies versions have mother-of-pearl dials and carry a cabochon crown. Citizen used roman digits in the stylish/casually stylish Calibre watches; they add an unmistakable classic touch and anchor some of the diversity.
