eaten through, and alimentary tract of animals called Luwak. This eminent coffee has been famous to overseas. Even in the United States,
there is a cafe or coffee shop that sells luwak coffee (Civet Coffee) with
a fairly expensive price. Coffee taken from a civet dirt could reach U.S. $ 100 per 450 grams. The only truth that the coffee sold
is actually civet coffee is still debatable.
The eminence of this coffee is because a believed myth in the past, when
the coffee plantation was opened a large-scale in the Dutch East Indies
until the decade of 1950s, in which at that time still there are lots
of animals like civet.
Civet likes to find fruit that is quite good fruits
including fruit coffee as food. Coffee beans from the coffee fruit, after eaten by the civet with its dirt removed, previously fermented in the civet stomach. Coffee beans like this,
often in the past on the coffee farmers, as they believed came from the
best coffee beans and naturally fermented. And it is believed that the taste of
coffee civet are truly different and special the fans and be it
coffee.
However, civets are now difficult to find. Their meat
that is trusted to be effective in healing Asma makes them continue to be
hunted. Therefore the coffee seeds collected from
the civet dirt turns to be only a myth.
"Civet coffee" now has become the trademark of a coffee
company. Generally, this brand of coffee can be found in shops or cafes
or shops in Jakarta where there are many cafes of civet coffee." But the civet coffee sold in those cafes migh not be real civet coffee which are fermented from the civets.
