Civilization (Board Game Vs Computer Game)
Civilization is a game of skill for 2 to 7 players, developed by Avalon Hill. True to its name, the game is all about the evolution of various civilizations from 8000BC when agriculture was developed to the emergence of Rome at third century B.C. Each player should try to establish themselves along with their cultures as they guide a nation of peoples over a map board of the Eastern Mediterranean and Near East.
This is basically not a war game though battles and strategies are important and the game cannot be won solely by battle. The primary objective of the game is to gain a level of overall accomplishment involving cultural, economic, and political factors so in case any conflicts do arise it will only be due to enmity and land shortage rather than to annihilate other players. The civilization is developed by all classes of people from nomads to farmer, from warrior to merchant to artisan and citizen. The player who brings about the best changes will ultimately win the game.
This game has a huge fan following and is touted as one of the most popular games of ancient civilizations. Each player takes the garb of a leader of an ancient civilization like the Illyrians or Babylonians and he is responsible to guide their folks through the ages by systematically expanding their civilization. Judicious application of resources to develop new technological advances such as education or metal working holds the key in the development of the civilization. The populace should be capable of solving all their shortcomings as they make advancements.
Basically the board and the computer versions of civilizations are similar except for some minor differences. You can easily download the demo version or purchase this thrilling game online from the website of Avalon Hill.
In the computer version there are some changes in the rules involving trading and military. At present Trading consist of three cards, one of which may or may not be a bluff, which will be known only to the person making the offer. While in the board game there are only two true cards.
The military in the computer system allows everyone to send in their move at the same time regardless of their position or number; this somewhat, defeats the purpose of military. In the board game there are no nationality/government choices for the military, which is compulsory in the PC version.
Thus Civilization is one of the most popular PC games ever that can be played for hours together to create historical milestones!

Board games are fun like monopoli, but computer games based on real time strategy are pretty good too.

I think I prefer the board game to the computer game.
