Keep Your Turtle Happy With A Clean Cage

I don’t care what type of pet you have. You need to do what you can to make sure that you feed them, bath them (if they need it), and clean out their homes.

Those who have turtles must make sure that they clean their cages thoroughly every few days. If you don’t it will begin to smell and the turtle might contract an infection or disease from all of the filth. Turtles are incredibly messy pets and it is for this reason that you have to clean their cages so often.

Before you clean a turtle cage you need to place the turtle in a small container with water that does not contain chlorine and rocks that are clean. To de-chlorinate the water just place some of it in a container overnight and pour in de-chlorinated treatment into it.

Make sure to also remove the decorations and gravel from the cage as well as the rest of the water. Clean the decorations and gravel with warm soapy water and rinse. You can use special cleaning soap or regular dishwashing soap.

Use warm soapy water of diluted bleach to clean the cage. To dilute the bleach add one part bleach to 30 parts water. In order to remove all of the cleaning products from the turtle cage make sure that you rinse it thoroughly.

Once the cage is clean you can fill it up again with the de-chlorinated water. The reason that the water cannot have chlorine in it is because it can cause serious damage to the turtle’s health.

After you add the water you can place the decorations and gravel back in and arrange them in the way you want. Make sure there is plenty of living space for your turtle on his return to the cage.
