Cleaning molds is a step that favors human health. Though molds don't have very dangerous background like chemical ingredients, they can still cause sickness. Some even as serious as life threatening illnesses.
Every mold case may require different level of mold removal process. Usually, it depends on how severe the infestation is. This can be determined based on the area the mold had covered.
However, no matter how big or small the area or item the mold had infected, it still requires mold removal. Molds don't just fade over the years instead, they can be very widespread. Only through mold removal, either do-it-yourself or with a professional help, can they be truly eliminated.
Cleaning molds though, will not bear results if you don't know when to do it and how to do it. The effectivity of the mold removal process is a little dependent on your timing, steps and even choices such as on the mold removal product to use. All those are factors that are leading the success of a home mold removal process.
When to Clean Molds
Timing is always a plus in everything. When you do things at the right time, better effects are to be expected. And when it comes to cleaning molds, timing results to a more effective rust removal process.
Basically, the best time to clean molds is right after you have visibly seen or smelled them. Molds grow within 24-48 hours. That means that waiting for another day or two will just allow molds to spread and damage wider area. The little time that is always put off in cleaning molds equates to additional space or item that might be damaged. And apart from the structural damage, not acting as fast as you should have can also result to health risks that could have been avoided.
How to Clean Molds
Molds can grow in different places. Mostly though, they can be seen on moist areas like the bathroom, leaked wall and windowsill. Since moist is a major factor that initiates their growth, locating the source and contolling that moist will also control the growth of molds.
To do that, here is the three-step mold removal process.
Gather all the materials and equipments needed. This includes all the protective things that you have to wear before starting the whole process and all of the equipments that will be used on the actual mold removal. It may include gloves, masks, googles, coverall, disposable towels, spary bottles, steel brush, water, detergent and a mold removal product.
Mix and apply mold removal solution. In doing the mold removal process all by yourself, mixing and applying will have to be included on the tasks that you have to work. If you intend to use general household cleaner, mix it with water (according to the product's instructions) and put it on a spray bottle. Warning though, never ever mix bleach with ammonia or any other cleaning product with ammonia. The result is highly intoxicating. On the other hand, if you will be using a mold removal product, simply follow the manfucturer's instructions. Before you start however, there are a few things that must be done. First is that you should keep the room, the one where the molds are, sealed. Second, you should keep other people away from that area.
Finish the mold removal process by drying the area to keep molds from recurring. Also, make sure that the source of the moist is indeed controlled and fixed to prevent future mold growth.
