The Club Penguin Play Awards appeared at the Stage in Club Penguin in March, 2009. It was a long event and was like the Academy Awards or Tony Awards in real-life. The event celebrated the best plays held at the Club Penguin Stage over the past year. All players in Club Penguin could vote but for the first few weeks only paid members could see the event inside the stage.

A special backstage area was available too, but only for paid members.

The categories for the Club Penguin Play Awards were: Best Play, Best Costume, Best Music, Best Effects, and Best Set.

The nominees for the awards were: Squidzoid vs. Shadow Guy and Gamma Girl, Ruby and the Ruby, Quest for the Golden Puffle, Fairy Fables, and The Penguins that Time Forgot.

Quest for the Golden Puffle won all the awards except for Best Costume which was won by Fairy Fables.
