Mustang Vs Camaro

Which car is faster? Which has more horsepower? Which one can get me there the fastest while looking cool? Probably as long as muscle cars have been built there has been debate over which one is superior. Human nature creates competition, and no other competition can become more heated than the performance of a man's (or woman's!) car. This brings up the age old debate of muscle car clubs everywhere; which car is better, the Mustang or the Camaro? Well, to me this is a very easy question (Mustang, Duh.), but read on and see what each has to offer in their new birthday suits for 2010. Don't forget to vote in the poll at the bottom (better be Mustang)!
2010 Mustang Shelby GT500
Formerly known as the Road King, 2010 proves to be a great year for the King of muscle cars; the 2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. At 540 hp, the intercooled and supercharged 5.4-liter DOHC V-8 brings 510 lb-ft of torque and a 0-60 time of the lower 4 second range. Though a 40 hp gain is achieved over the previous year GT500KR, the 5th and 6thgears are both notably taller to allow the remarkable 2 mpg gain; more power and mpg look so sweet in blue and white (and green, money that is.). Inside you will find a great array of authentic aluminum fittings throughout, with Cobra embossments proudly displayed and custom stitching down the back rest of the seats, and Ford’s new SYNC and navigation system. On the outside you find the new double front facial grills, brilliant HIDs, and brand new custom fitted 19” Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires created to control the most powerful of mustangs yet. Expect the $40k - $50k MSRP to be greatly inflated by the demand, and of course the greedy dealers, again after the release later this year.

2010 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS
Finally making it’s debut in 2010 is Chevy’s response to their lifelong rivals of the ponies; the Camaro. Powered with a 6.2-liter, 420 + hp and torque that almost matches, the Camaro was built for speed. What delivers the power to the new beast? The return-less multi-port fuel injection, valve-in-heads with two per cylinder, active fuel management, and roller lifters. Don’t expect more than 23 mpg for this monster, but beauty isn’t cheap and neither is power. Low to mid $30k price tag does help cushion the blow, sort of. The 4.9 second 0-60 time is a little shy of the competitor Mustang, still slightly superior, and is purported to deliver a faster 4.6 0-60 and a shorter 13.3 ¼ mile on the automatic transmission configuration. Although this is a top selection vehicle, competitor exposure and reputation seems to be the only fuel to the fire of this flame. Great performance car and superior design, especially for the cost effective purchase.
