Espresso Cups

Don't you just love the smell of fresh brewed coffee in the early morning? Even in summer, there's nothing like a good cup of coffee to give you the kick start you need to go on your way to a lovely day.

The great thing about coffee is that it's such a simple and delicious hot drink to make. Just put a teaspoon of coffee in a mug. Add the number of sugars you like. Pour some boiling water over the contents. Then just add milk to taste. Or you can add the sugar later, it's your choice.

That's also one of the reasons coffee is enjoyed all around the world as a home-made hot drink. You don't need to let it settle, you don't need to worry about where to put those wet teabags or anything like that. As long as you stir the contents well with boiling water, you can't go wrong.

Another great thing about coffee is that it can be enjoyed at many different locations and during any time of the day. There are very few drinks that can set the mood for a perfect time out but coffee is definitely one of those drinks. Enjoy it in the morning or evening, and the experience can be different both times.

You can do more with a tin of coffee than you can with other drinks. It combines well with many other things to make something so simple stretch even further. Mocha coffee is a very popular drink and all it's just coffee and hot chocolate in a mug. Espresso is another popular drink and it is server in cool little espresso cups. Just add liqueur to your coffee if you prefer something a little stronger.

Another great tasting alternative that can be enjoyed from the coffee bean is iced coffee or an iced coffee milkshake. Whether you blend just ice and coffee or prefer to throw in some ice cream as well, you can enjoy a cold drink that will give you the same rich coffee taste. It's something to savour on warmer nights.

Sometimes those snacks you love are just not the same without coffee on the side. Toast with peanut butter or jelly just tastes so much better when complimented with a warm cup of coffee, while biscuits or cake just have to be enjoyed with coffee. You can even dip your biscuits to add a coffee taste to the flavour. Delicious!

True coffee connoisseurs won't be satisfied until they get their fix of real filter coffee. This is not your ordinary coffee in a tin, but imported coffee beans roasted to perfection in a pot or kettle. The aroma is unmistakable and the taste even better. Brewed coffee is probably the best tasting drink you can make in your own home. If you do brew your own high end coffee at home, be sure to upgrade your coffee maker accessories. One of the first things I would do is throw your cheap blade grinder away and get a burr coffee grinder. They do a mcuh better job of grinding your beans.

Stress is good for you in small doses. Every now and then. But let it linger and look out. It steals your sleep, saps your immune system, brings on bad habits faster than a trip to Las Vegas. And that's just for starters.

Espresso Cups and Word Origins

I was curious as the the origin of the word espresso so I went on a word hunt the other day. As it turns out, there are commonly held beliefs as to the origin of the word espresso.

1) The word is related to the speed of the "brewing" process. When making an espresso the coffee grounds are exposed to water for a short period of time. This is an express or fast way of brewing coffee.

2) Espresso referrs to the speed in which the espresso drink is created and served to the customers. I places like France and Spain, you can order an express and this means an espresso. Espresso are usally server fast and consumed quickly.

It was also noted that the French refer to expreso and espresso for these types of coffe drinks.
