COKE - Warning - warning.....

Looks harmless enough....? Or does it....?
Looks harmless enough....? Or does it....?

I will definitely be having Water!

Egads! What have I put INTO myself!?

I got these interesting factoids yesterday in an email from a friend of mine who works in the medical field. I had heard some of them before about coke or (Coca-Cola) tm but not so much statistical data about water.I began to look into this and I have added some of my own findings to this.

WATER and why we need it & what it does for us:

#1. About 75% of Americans (North Americans) are chronically dehydrated. (Likely this applies to half of the worlds population.) Chronic dehydration is very very BAD for the human body.

#2. In 37% of Americans the thirst desire is so weak it is mistaken for hunger. So people eat and eat and eat, instead of drinking a glass of water that our body is telling us it NEEDS. If we would LISTEN to our bodies; we'd be oh so much healthier!

#3. Even being a bit dehydrated will slow down your metabolism as much as 4%.

#4. A glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pains in their tracks in almost 100% of the dieters studied in a Un of WA study.

#5. The lack of water in a body is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue!

#6. Early research shows that just 8 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 70% of sufferers, perhaps more.

#7. A mere 1 1/5% drop in normal level body water can trigger short-term memory loss, trouble with basic math and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. (I have this happent!) This is Huge! It is also great to know hos simple it is to *fix* it.

#8. Drinking 5 or more glasses of water each day decreases the average risk of colon cancer by 45%. It can also cut down the risk of breast cancer by 79%. THAT is an enormous percentage! A person is also 50% less likely to develop cancer of the bladder.

Are you drinking your daily quota of water in a day? I know people who don't even drink it at ALL. Sure, it's IN tea and coffee and juice and they reason that all those drinks being mainly water; that they are getting more than their fair share.

What they Don't realize is it isn't the same thing at all. Take coffee for example; because of the amount of caffeine in a regular cup a joe, it actually becomes a diuretic - not a source of hydration! It works in reverse and then one needs to drink even MORE water to make up for what is lost by drinking the cup of coffee.

COLA's (or really ANY pop with phosphoric acid in it) will have the same effect and do the same things listed below:

#1. The highway patrol has long been known to carry Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a traffic accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.(Where'd it go?)

#3. To clean a toilet you can pour a can of Cola into the toilet bowl and let the pop sit for one hour, then flush clean.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of aluminum foil dipped in Cola.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion. This works really well; I have done it myself with pepsi tm.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt all you need to do is apply a cloth soaked in Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. To remove grease from clothes: Pour a can of Coke into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular wash cycle. The Coca-Cola will loosen grease stains and clean your clothes.

#8. Cola's will also clean-up all that road haze from your windshield lickity-split!

And if all that isn't enough to turn you off - check This out. Just hit that link to read the whole story about pesticides that you are ingesting as well!

Pepsi and Coke under fire again

An Indian non-governmental organisation says samples of Coca-Cola and Pepsi products are showing even worse levels of pesticides than in a previous study.

The earlier report sparked protests in India

The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) said their investigations revealed that the drinks contain harmful residues, posing a health risk.

A CSE report in 2003 resulted in Pepsi and Coca-Cola strenuously rejecting claims that their drinks were unsafe.

Soft drinks manufacturers have condemned the latest findings. (Well, Of COURSE they WILL!)

"Soft drinks are completely safe," the Indian Soft Drink Manufacturers Association (ISDMA) said in a statement on Wednesday.

"The soft drinks manufactured in India comply with stringent international norms and all applicable national regulations."

CSE Director Sunita Narain told journalists in Delhi that samples from 12 states showed that Pepsi products contained 30 times more pesticides than found in 2003.

Likewise she said that Coke samples had 25 times the amount of pesticides found three years ago.

She alleged that despite the public outcry over the issue following the first report, the government has failed to set up the necessary quality-control standards for the soft drinks industry.

India does not have any purity standards for soft drinks.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) - the highest government body to maintain product quality certification - has set a pesticide standard for bottled-water only.

The CSE study used that recommendation in their tests.

In 2003, an Indian parliamentary committee upheld the CSE findings on the presence of pesticide residues and recommended that standards were set for soft drinks too.

The Indian Food Processing Industries minister, Subodh Kant Sahay said the government would look into the matter when it receives an official complaint.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

=====================

#1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place card, reserved for transporting highly corrosive and dangerous materials.

#3. The distributors of Coketm have been using it to clean the engines of their own fleets of trucks for over 20 years!LOL

Now, the only question is, would you like a glass of water?

Or a glass or can of Coke?

After getting these stats, researching them randomly online - I could not find fault with a single one and found a lot more. It really is sick to think of all the things that the FDA will approve for human consumption!! Money sure talks!

Not only that but they also make sure to shove it in the faces of kids every chance they get. It can even nearly Always be found in school drink vending machines.

Perhaps it is far past time to put coke in the automotive section of stores? Along with rewriting what it is used for - certainly you wouldn't want to DRINK the stuff!

Oh and did I mention - Coke will eat away a 4" spike nail left sitting in it in only FOUR DAYS!

Coke vs. Water

Awesome article, Bob, I remember my Dad using coke to clean the car engine when he was rebuilding it when I was a kid, (or whatever dad's do with car engines,) and I would think, gads, isn't that the stuff we drink? Very, very interesting. I'm drinking water as we speak.

Phosphoric acid is also a common ingredient in salad dressings. I found that out when I researched my hub on the additives in "distressing dressings".

A very reader friendly hub.

Great Hub! As a former, coke product addict, my lips only touch water now. The caffine was the main reason I quit. Best thing I ever did for myself.

Great article! Another point is that Coke has high fructose corn syrup which is a big factor in obesity. There is a great website written by a doctor, about the benefits of water. I think the url is http://www.watercure2.com

I found out the same facts about water that you mentioned through my own research for an article I wrote, but I had no idea just how caustic Coke was. I always knew it could dissolve a tooth, but to be able to dissolve a 4" spike too?! Thanks for sharing and we all need to do more research about the things we're willing to put into our bodies.

It seems to me like you put a lot of work into this, privateye, did someone else also perhaps write a similar hub about coca-cola? I don't think you should have to take it down, it's very informative.

Just make sure to give credit to whatever section of your hub is duplicate. As long as most of the hub is original, a bit of duplicate doesn't hurt. If it was marked by the auto duplicate checker, I'm pretty sure you can have HP review the hub itself and take down the flag.
