Quick Crab Dip Recipes

Today, I wanted to touch on the subject of Cold Crab Dip Recipes.  This has to be one of the easiest dishes available.  It is very easy to put together and very inexpensive.

I love crab dip.  I frequently order it as an appetizer any time I go to a seafood resturant.  I especially love crab dips that have spinach in them also.  Man, my stomach is starting to talk to me as we speak.

Crab dip is a great accompany to any dinner.  It is a perfect side dish to just about anything.  It also makes a great appetizer or party dish for Super Bowl parties or just get togethers of the family and friends.

Below are some links to some great crab dip recipies:

Hot crab dip served in a bread bowl - This recipe may not belong in this hub, but it looked so good I just had to include it.  It was been reviewed 301 times and has gotten at least 4 or 5 stars.    The recipe can serve 16 people and is very easy to put together.

Appetizing Cold Crab Dip Recipe - I found this recipe on cooking-new-orleans-style.com.  Its recipe calls for cream cheese and mostly onions.  I really like cream cheese, so I had to take a look at this recipe.  The recipe also has a spicy kick to it.  Should be a winner at any party.

Now if you want something with just a little more of a kick you need to check out this Horseradish Crab Dip.  As the name implies it has horseradish as a base component, making it very hot.  Combined with the cream cheese this recipe is mellowed out just a little to allow your taste buds to recover.

What Type of Crab Meat to Buy

This is a old question.  Does different meat from different parts of the crab taste better?  I would have to say yes.  I personally rather have lump crab than the backfin.

Lump crab is the lump of crab meat that comes from the body of the crab.  The crab meat has a lot more taste and comes out in chucks then broken up.  Also, avoid getting pasteurized crab meet.  The meat just does not have any taste.  Immatation crab meat is also a no no.  This is what is served in supermarket crab dip.  Immatation crab meat is a mixture of seafood that is left over.  it is smoothed together to form strips of meat and colored with food coloring.  It is not even whole crab meet.

The best type of crab meat is to get it yourself.  Although, it is the most painful.  You will have to pick the meat out of the crab.  I say that this is the best because you can cook them and season them they way that make you happy.  The crab meat will have better flavor and make you crab dip banging.
