Medical conditions that result in reduced blood flow to the feet and legs can result in cold feet.
Conditions such as peripheral vascular disease, or PVD, causes blockage, or narrowing of the arteries, heart disease, and Raynaud's phenomenon (spasms of the blood vessels caused by cold).
Blood vessels constriction can also be caused by certain medications and can result in cold feet. These medications, such as ergotamine for migraine headaches, pseuroephedrine in cold preparations and beta blockers used to treat high blood pressure, can cause the problem.
In addition, adrenal insufficiency, hypothyroidism, Addisons Disease and disorders affecting the nervous system such as fibromyalgia; and the immune system like lupus can aggravate the condition.
