I have read The Coldest Winter Ever and Midnight, a Gangsta's Love Story, both by Sista Souljah. I can't wait for the next ones. Souljah is currently working on the continuation to Midnight, A Gangsta's Lovbe story, which will link The Coldest Winter Ever and Midnight, A Gangsta's Love story together. The date for that release has not been announced. She will also be releasing her next novel, "Porsche Santiaga", which is about Winter Santiaga's little sister, due out in 2010... and I cannot wait for that one!!! But what I have been anticipating for the past 10 years is the movie version of the Coldest Winter Ever, and there is some good news! I went on Sista Souljah's official web site and she is currently working out the business details on The Coldest Winter Ever and Midnight, a Gangsta's Love Story!!! Not to mention she is turning both novels in to audio books! Sista Souljah is making moves!!!
My suggestions for who should play what character has changed over the past 10 years, however, some remain the same. I will list the pictures of my top characters out of my suggestion list. Winter: Lauren London, Nicki Minaj, Candi Cotton, KeKe Palmer, Jurnee Smollet, Logan Browning, Angel Lola Love has the look (don't know bout the skills), Drew Sidora, Ashanti, Solange Knowles, Raven Symone, Davetta Sherwood, 10 years ago Reagan Preston Gomez
Midnight: Tyrese, Duane Finley, Lance Gross, Jackie Long... or some new actor, very dark skinned and handsome.
Winter's Mom: Kerry Washington, Stacey Dash, N'bushe Wright, Regan Preston-Gomez, Nia Long, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Taraji P Henson, Ananda Lewis, Keshia Knight Pulliam, or Demetria McKinney.
Santiaga: Laz Alonso (So Sexy), Rick Gonzalez, Giancarlo Esposito, Mel Jackson, Terrance Howard, Idris Elba(sexiest man on earth) would be perfect, but he doesn't exactly pass for being of Latin Decent, Blair Underwood, Brian White.
Bullet: Julito Mccullum, Rick Gonzalez, or Drake AKA Aubrey Drake Graham.

The Coldest Winter ever had me so drawn in to the characters life it made you feel as if you were Winter. I think the end left you hanging though. I to would really like an actual sequel to see how the Santiaga's lives turned out. That book I couldn't put down. I read Midnight and it took me forever just to stay consistent with reading it. It was OK, but not a heart grabber like The coldest Winter Ever.

I know that there are a lot of actors and actresses that that may fit the characters descriptions, but most of them are not great actors/actresses. You have to take their acting abilities into play, if not, the movie will just go south. Which is the last thing I want because the book was exceptional.
Laura London as Winter: Yes, she is new to the industry but she can act. She has a face that can transform from a young sweet girl, to a slutty street chick, and to rough jail bird. No, her figure may not be perfect to the character but that is what makeup is for. If they can turn Jim Carey into the Grinch, I think they can add a little thickness and breasts to Laura London.
Taraji Henson as Mrs. Santiaga: I really shouldn't have to explain why. She can play anything. She is simply amazing.
Tyrese Gibson as Midnight: He is beautiful man with street credibility. And of course, he is a good actor.
Laz Alonso as Santiaga: In the book, Santiaga came off to me as this dark latin man and Laz is exactly that. He's a beautiful man but he has a rugged street side to him as well.
Niki is 2 old n too big 2 play winter comon b realistic......... lisa ray shud b the mom......morris chestnut as midnight, winter keke palmer.
Okay, I don't know if you guys know this. Ricky Santiago was not latin, he was a black man...
My pick for
Santiago: Jeffery Wright, L.L. Kool.J, Darren Hudson, I would also go as far as Denzel Washington, my first pick would be Jeffery Wright he played in shaft, and Martin Luther king.
Ms. Santiago: Jeffery Wright real wife Carmen Ejogo, Halle Berry she still look good, and she would be the only one that could play the crack head scene. Taraji could do it...
Winter: Lauren London, it's hard to pick the disney children, because they have always played the innocent role, Megan Goode could get away with playing Winter.
Midnight: Omar Epps possible, Tyrese
