Collecting Putters: Knowing What to Ask From Dealers

If you’re looking for prized and collectible putters, then you have to know which makes and brands you should be on the lookout for. Over the years, there have been many putters that have been produced for particular uses of celebrity golf winners, or putters that used special materials that are now considered rare. While some of these clubs are used, many of them are worth higher if they are unused and undamaged.

The putter materials are some that make up their value. Steel is not as highly priced as wood or aluminium, but it also depends on the year the club was made. A wooden club may be considered collectible especially if there has been no damage and if they come with the original packaging. They can range up to $500 or more, especially the putter heads are made of aluminium wood.

Designs on the putter heads can also contribute to their value. A quick search through the online best buys will show that many designs are embossed on the heads, and limited edition designs also tend to have a higher value. The designer of the collectible putters are also put on the heads, and some of them are used you can also opt to find collectible putters that have no marks and damage. MacGregor clubs with Jack Nicklaus and Tony Penna designs, to name a few, can reach the price of up to $20,000. This is especially true if they are made prior to 1960’s; value tends to drop on the prized putters after that era.

Collectible putters are now available if you search online, but always remember to ask detailed questions from the seller, especially regarding the materials, the make of the collectible putters, as well as the condition. It pays to be thorough and to know what you’re looking for
