College at 30
63My X-mas Snaps
Ok, so Im 32...Not 30
Recently Ive been thinking about going back to school. And when I say back, for me, it's been 15 years since I stepped foot onto a campus. Im nervous, anxious, excited, and terrified all at the same time. The hard part is figuring out what I want to do with myself. I havent worked in almost 2 years and Im so not willing to do the 9-5, work your butt off for nearly minimum wage anymore. I look back on my job history and I have so many different skills but not anything I can really put down on paper and say, hey, pick me over everyone else, Im the best at "whatever". So since Im a total flake and at 32, still dont know what I want to "be" when I grow up, Ive decided to head back to school.
Im starting with PCC or Portland Community College. I love writing so Im definitely taking some Writing classes. Just the basics for now, to get the backbone for my degree out of the way. Oh and I suppose I'll HAVE to take Math as well, even though it will probably be the death of me. But what Im looking to focus on is photography. I adore taking pictures and am always looking for ways to better myself there.
So Im just going to throw myself into this new idea of education, I cant wait to get started. Maybe I'll change my mind by the time fall rolls around but I really hope not. It's quite possible that by this time next year, I will be using up batteries like theyre going out of style. And I dont mean on the vibrator.
My grandfather has been a photographer since his teens, he takes amazing pictures. Ive asked him to take me under his wing and show me everything he knows, this could take awhile, he's almost 80. Im really excited about getting to learn from someone who I deem to be outstanding when it comes to taking a good photo.
I want to make my family proud and be able to contribute something of substance, something besides love.
Off I go....
