Colon is part of the digestive tract located between the small intestine and the rectum. It is also the largest part of the intestine. The human colon is about 4 ½ feet. Together with the rectum it makes up the large intestines.

Colon cancer is also called colorectal cancer. It is characterized by cancerous growth in the colon, rectum and the appendix.

Colonoscopy - is the term use in the diagnosis of

colon cancer.

Causes of Colon Cancer :

  • Lack of fiber in food. When there is not enough fiber in food it remains longer in the colon, therefore the risk for cancerous cell to grow there is increased.
  • Excess fat in the diet. Too much fat cause the gall bladder to generate acids that, when accumulated become carcinogenic.

Prevention of Colon Cancer :

  1. Make sure to eat food that is low in fat and high in fibers like green leafy vegetables, carrots (it is rich in beta-carotene that fights cancer cells) and fruits. High fiber food "fly" through the intestine carrying with them any toxic components in their path. The advantage of fibers is that they lessen the time of contact of carcinogenic substances which can harm the intestine.
  2. Make sure your diet contain more live food like raw vegetables and fruits. Live food contains more nutrients than cooked food.
  3. You should also eat a diet rich in nuts, whole grains, asparagus, apple juice, broccoli, alfalfa and cauliflower.
  4. Eliminate refined or white flour and sugar as well as junk food and canned food.
  5. Do not eat processed foods like hotdogs, smoked meats and canned foods.
  6. Exercise daily.

Your articles should be more and more welcomed by people for their own good.
