Purchasing a cowboy hat may not be at the top of every woman's fashion accessory list, however, I waited 4 years to find the perfect one. While visiting the Single Action Shooting Society event this past June I stopped in at the Colorado Mountain Hat Company tent.

Browsing three walls covered in different hat styles I surprised myself by finding one I liked. I tried on everything, spoke extensively with the owners, and received comments from my husband. All this resulted in them putting this ancient steel contraption on my head and assuring me of a custom fit. Writing down the measurements produced and adjusting those to make it a slight bit smaller to avoid blowing off when riding, it all sounded quite perfect.

Well, except for the 10 weeks for delivery.

However, when the 10 weeks ended, a lovely rust colored quarterhorse slope hat with bound edges and a thin matching hat band arrived in a giant box. Yes, it fit likes a charm. Should you be considering a new hat, I recommend going for the custom fit. Definitely worth the wait.
