Gmail Labs

Gmail Labs is one of the greatest addition in Gmail. It has been added on June of 2008.

To go to the Gmail Labs page, for the first time, you will click the Settings link at the upper right corner of the Gmail page. The link is just right after your email address.

Once you are in Gmail Settings Page, look at the links that goes after General, the second to the last link is Labs. Click Labs.

Now, you are in the Labs page where you can start to enable feature in Gmail Labs. Read the description of each feature and if you have decided that you want to try it, just click enable instead of disable. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page to completely enable the feature you want.

Superstars

Superstars is one of the experimental features in Gmail Labs. This feature allows me to use colorful icons whenever I star or favorite an email or a chat conversation, instead of using the boring yellow star.

Well, the reason colorful icons are more helpful to me is because I can designate a particular icon when an email is urgent or I need to do something important with it. When I am done with the task mentioned in the email, I can put a check on it.

If my superiors email me and instructed me what to do on a particular event, but some instructions are not clear to me, I put a question mark icon so that I can ask my superiors later about my question.
