Colors Of You

Be my human easel baby
and I'll paint you crimson red

Be my model, feel my colors
mixed in with the texture of my soul
I'm not painting any fruit
carefully arranged in a pretty bowl

I'm not painting anything
that anybody can control

So don't put flowers in a vase
just let me view from the mountainside
I don't need to have a time or place
Just let these colors out i have inside.

There's a storm a coming dear
It's headed right this way
Let me get out my oil paints
I've got to capture lightening and thunder
before it blows past our way.

Don't let them set up your life
like some staged mundane affair
grab the nearest brush you see
and paint wild colors everywhere

Paint reds and yellows
blue and green and everything in between
When it's dark, paint black
It's all okay
There will be truth in paintings seen.

For God's sake, stop waiting for
someone to set your stage
Stand Up, Hold your Head up high

It's time to paint your story on this page.

Paint what you feel
say what you know
and don't be afraid to blend sometimes
If it slips away
and you don't capture this
then that will be a crime

Let all of your colors out
Show them each and every day
Don't hide your greens
or mask your blues
Breathe in your dreams
and savor all the hues

Get all excited
Pick up aquamarine
and mix it with some red
i'd rather have my palette overused
than live a colorless life I dread.

Your best yet...and that is saying something. Love the "grab life by the b*lls" theme.

I like the message in this poem, Erin..... Why be sparing with the colour, when you can always buy more paint? Lovely start to my early morning, i am up before the larks today......

I wondeful metaphore to living life to the fullest. Most of us have to settle for the browns and grays of the work day but at night and on the weekends it's time for the reds, the yellows, and the bules. Excellent imagery.

Thank you all very much for reading this. Pete, I've made a vow to never use or be brown or gray again.

Beautifully written Erin! The energy and colors of life are what make being here worth it :) Can't say I won't go to brown or gray again personally - something dramatically joyous to feel a surge of crimson red out of the bleak dull of normalcy. But next time I do, your poem will be there in my mind adding to the moment's glory! Thank you for sharing
