Colour Hair Day - The Art, the Poem and the Poll

Ode to Coloured Hair
When mirrored versions do not give true view
To gaze that's given often by a glance
One can wonder what would be true you
If one would only up and take a chance
Oh fair adornment, hair, you offer new
An opportune so ripe to try new stance
At least the opportunity exists
To colour hair and find the you in it
Notatons on Ode Form
Odes are typically lyric poems of an elevated style written for a particular subject or occasion. Odes originated from anicent Greek and Latin poems which were originally recited or sung by two choruses, and a classic ode includes the stropha, the antistrophe and an epode. A point is raised in the stropha, arguments made against it in the antistropha and boths sides join in the conclusion which is the epode, the last two lines.
Pindaric and Horacian odes are the most common Western forms, while other forms exist like the qasida of Persian poetry. Many poets, like contemporary Abraham Cowley have often used irregular forms for their odes.
The form I've chosen with which to exalt coloured hair is the ottava rima pattern which is 8 lines in iambic pentameter following an abababcc pattern. Iambic pentameter clearly remains the iambic pentameter of this point in my life.

So I'm thinking about dying my hair again.
Now those of you who know me also know that I love trying new and exotic colours. I currently have black hair, which is a first for me, but I'm considering what colour to do next. I am seeking input from the masses on what colour you think I should go with and I find myself curious what colour, if jobs didn't matter, you would dye your hair, so I made an Official Idunnian Poll to ask that question. :)
Typically I like the reds, and my favourite is raspberry at the moment.
Official Idunnian Hair Dying Poll
If you could dye your hair any colour, without outside concerns, which one would you pick?

Yes, I've been meaning to make an ode to coloured hair since last year when I first saw Rabi Khan's "Coloured Hair Day" painting.
Thanks for taking time to vote and comment. :D
Love the paintings and a very interesting hub thanks
Thanks! Ha, I see you are with me on pink, I think. I love pink and I consider my raspberry favorite to be a form of pink. I am considering regoing black with purple streaks this time. :O
I love Rabi Khan's work, too. I'm sure he will be delighted you do also.
I am for blue hair... blue skin too... well this illusive persuit of true you is breathtaking.
Thank you, Kushal. My daughter does her hair blue sometimes. I could go with blue skin, also!
Nice pome & pics,
lol. I was a true brunette but now that I am grey I am a bottle blonde.
Ralph, thank you for stopping in to check out Colour Hair Day. :D
Ethel, I'm a light brown and even when dying my hair to get back to my colour after the exotic ones, I pick dark brown. I just feel so mousy in my own hair colour. I tried blonde and I look horrible in it. :o
Don't you just love doing stuff to your hair? I do. :)
I love growing old disgracefully lol
Interesting poem, I have never tried to dye my hair and now not enough left to do it.
Ethel, I love just growing old because it beats the alternative! hehe
quiet, it's a lot of fun. the wonderful thing about hair is if you don't like it, you can cover it and/or cut it. unlike permanent fashion changes, you can try all kinds of new things with hair and I love the variety of choices.
I'd pick purple besause it would match my face. lol
I had purple hair once and sadly it didn't match anything. I looked terrible in it.
Very well put together Iðunn ; such a beautiful and funny ode--If I could color my hair anything blue is my choice.
I once told a friend his hair color was audubun and he said, "WHAT?"
I said yea- Au-du-bun on a dogs butt.
Had to fix my fat lip :)))
lol, froggy! I let my youngest son have blue hair once for the summer... it was a good grades reward. and my daughter has had blue hair twice. :D
You eccentric mom! They obviously consider themselves very lucky!
I have to admit they do. I cede that my children adore me. I am indeed rich, although clearly not in cash money. haha.
Mirror, Mirror, now who is the most adorable of them all? :P
Cash money is one form of wealth, but not the only one. You and I are richer than MLM billionaires, LOL
I offer you the idunnian pseudopolitical "tend to agree". :D
I still haven't decided which colour to do this time, but I do feel my hair is ready for a change.
Can you do blends? And I hope you are typing this in your sleep?
hehe, this time I'm really going. I hope. I was thinking maybe black with a few purple streaks underneath, somewhat sedate. It would be an easy change since I'm starting from black. Raspberry continues to entice me too, and then there are the normalish auburns, the dark brunettes, and an odd urge to go wild with perhaps a blue or purple. I'm totally undecided.
Only don't make it black and blue - too violent. Wild colours are fine, I think, when they are just a streak or two. Like a streak across a football field, LOL. Sweet dreams, Iðunn!
