Some people believe that these are one and the same. We need to combine health and fitness to live a long and happy life. However these do not necessarily go hand in hand. Many people pride themselves on a perfectly healthy diet, but their physique is sadly not what it should be.
Optimum results are achieved by combining health and fitness into our daily lives.It is possible, though extremely difficult, to lose weight through dieting alone. This normally involves extreme measures such as eliminating a lot of carbohydrates, calories, and almost all fatty foods. We need a certain amount of these to support our natural "fat burning furnace" for a gradual weight loss.
Too accelerated a weight loss will result in a "concentration camp" appearance and is also very unhealthy. By adding a reasonable amount of exercise and thus combining health and fitness, we will encourage the body to start burning fat of its own accord. However, the body also needs food to have the strength to do this. Exercise also needs to be approached cautiously; like diet, neither extreme will be beneficial in our quest for fitness. Combining health and fitness procedures will vary with your existing health conditions. Some people may have allergies or cannot tolerate certain recommended foods for one reason or another. Previous injuries or handicaps may also prevent you from performing certain exercises. Consult your doctor before venturing out into the unknown.
Do not make the mistake of relying on the scales alone when judging your progress. Muscle is heavier than fat; this is a good thing. Look in the mirror, try on your previously tight clothes, measure your waistline. Compare how you feel when climbing several flights of stairs. This is a true measure of your success when combining health and fitness. Far too many people just pay attention to how many pounds they have lost and get discouraged. As they incorporate exercise with dieting they are actually gaining muscle and losing inches in the process.
By combining health and fitness, this can create fantastic weight loss when taken seriously. The bottom line is neither works well alone and neither will work unless you are prepared to go the distance and stick to your plan. An occasional indulgence isn't going to make or break your diet if you make up for it with a little extra fitness training. The two methods together complement each other and you should see a healthy and consistent weight loss that is sustainable when you combine health and fitness.
