Advertising our Children
57Shopping hell
Parents are literally being robbed of their wallets and their sanity as more and more characters are being pushed onto products that more or less do not even affect the child. This is very misleading and could lead to very unhealthy standards for children. And I don't mean just food. Aside from the over stimulation of fruit snacks slapped with Dora, Batman, Princess' and Bratz....(the list goes on) these characters are also showing up on toothbrushes, soaps, make-up, clothing. You name it, they've claimed it. I am getting fed up with trying to avoid arguments and negotiations with 4 and 6 year olds every time I have to run to the store for something. Just because a product has Dora on it doesn't mean it functions all that well. Of course I can say no, oh and believe me I do. But I also have to listen to the whining that follows for the next hour as we trot through the store and drive home. By the way thanks for not only mispelling the Bratz and teaching my child ebonics, but also thanks for redefining the term Brat so that kids might actually think it means cool and hip. We all know what a brat is. I will never buy a Bratz product for my daughter no matter how hard she begs I will continue to steer her interest towards role models that count.
