Women of the DC Universe Cheetah Review

This weekend brought a pleasant surprise to my collection. I received my DC Direct Women of the DC Universe Cheetah Mini Bust. This bust was sculpted by the very talented Jack Mathews and based on the artwork of the equally talented Terry Dodson. Cheetah is about 5.5 inches tall from the bottom of the base to the top of her head.  The box is similar in design to the rest of the Women of the DC Universe Busts. Showing various views of the mini busts on the box. It also has some nice sketches of Terry Dodson's drawings of Cheetah. The bottom of the box of course shows the edition size of the piece. This piece was limited to an edition size of 3500.  She was securely snug in a well packaged box. She is held in a two piece styro-foam insert. The two pieces were taped together with one long strand of invisible tape around the entire package.  I inspected the piece as soon as I took her from the box. Upon initial inspection, she seems to have the same mediocre paint applications that appear on most pre-paint statues and mini busts. So far this line has had above average paint-apps and I might agree that she has the same above average paint-apps. The eyes were both looking in the same direction and at me, which is a good thing. No paint-streaks or overlapping paint splotches to speak of but, still not enough detail that a model painter could give...  The sculpt is top notch and one of the better of the entire series. Although that could be because of my affection for the character. The tail is something (along with the fingers) that can easily be snapped off so keep a close eye on this when taking her from the package and displaying her on your shelf.   I would give this particular piece an 8 out of 10!  You can see this piece and more of the Women of the DC line at http://www.statuearchive.com  You can also discuss this and more at the best DC Comics collectibles site on the web http://www.dccollector.com
