Coming Out

Coming out was no problem for my daughter or so I thought. Acceptance, love, assurance, respect, this is all good, YES? NO! My daughter had an interview to a reality show "Real World" and she was asked if coming out, to her parents was difficult. She said "No, my parents were always supportive. I wish they hadn't been though. Then I would really realize how hard it must be for others. I know this sounds wierd". Are you kidding me? Wierd!!! EZ is not good? You wish you we would have had a problem with you? Man oh man, it is hard to be a mom...

What a wonderful mother you are , as acceptance is a good thing, however she does see the struggles of her friends and that frustrates her. The reason I beleive that people do not always accept as that they do not understand. My sister is lesbian as well and my own mother had a tough time, but through learning and understanding my sister has the respect and love she deserves. :)

I think there are more and more gays who are being born to truly loving parents. I didn't have a problem either even though it was over twenty years ago for me. Let's face it, us gays love the drama! Your daughter is blessed to have you...and if you're like my Jewish mother, you'll never let her forget it!

scott baby you are too cool for school...First you made me smile and then you made me laugh. I can see where this hub thing could become addictive with people like you here. I have learned some good internet stuff here BUT I have to say that you are my fav!!But don't be flattered coming from a compulsive addictive/a.d.d./nuerotic/alcoholic/ gambling, middleaged, mother of 3. I am ok as long as I take my Zoloft...

Watch out for that stuff from big pharma denise.

You're a great parent from what I can see. Your daughter is fortunate.

I played in rock bands for many years. I met quite a few gays. Always articulate, intelligent, creative, pleasant and very communicative. Never met a gay person I didn't like.

I think things will get better for gays before we overcome racism. It seems like it’s mostly the religious fanatics that are homophobic. The lie of racism reaches deep into the secular community as well.
