Living in grace and obeying what I can.

Obey what you can and get grace and mercy for the rest.

In searching the scriptures, listening to other peoples opinions both Jewish, Messianic Jewish and Christian, Rabbi's, Messianic Rabbi's and Pastors, Teachers and Prophets, and just plain regular believers (whatever that means). I have found a whole host of everything from sound teaching to a steaming plate of utter horse turds being served up for people to embrace.

After 30 years of searching the holy scriptures, I know this much. The Messiah taught this way and meant every word of it too, no doubt about it.

Matt 5:17-19 "Don't misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to fulfill them. I assure you, until heaven and earth disappear, even the smallest detail of God's law will remain until its purpose is achieved. So if you break the smallest commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God's laws and teaches them will be great in the Kingdom of Heaven."

He also said, "if you love ME, then obey MY commandments"...not hard to understand that.

And then, I sought THE HOLY ONE to help sort this all out and wanted to know what to follow. Some teach grace and mercy, some teach commandments, laws and instructions, some teach once saved always saved, some teach you can lose it, some teach the fear of GOD, some say just respect HIM, (even though the word mean to be utterly terrified) some teach to toss out the Old Testament and use only the new (but they often quote the "OLD"...strange)

  • AND THEN SOME TEACH THE WHOLE COUNSEL OF THE HOLY ONE.

Below you will find the list of 613 commandments and their source in scripture. All of them from GOD, 10 of them written with HIS own finger, not HIS fist.

  • You can read through them and see which ones you can follow. I calculated 613 divided by 365 and you get 1.679452 (so call it 2 like it ends with, funny:-) and if you read just 2 a day and observe them when you can, they soon become a joy, not a chore, nor do they save you from hell, yet they bless you and keep you out of troubles. Some of them are only for men, some for women, some positive, some negative, some you can do in Israel, some you can do anywhere. Some regarding relationships with others, some with GOD. If you can find fault with any of them, let me know, or let GOD know rather. Remember they are not followed under compulsion, but out of love for THE ONE WHO SPOKE THEM TO THE PEOPLE. They were always followed in faith by those who knew better, not to save them from hell, but they do save you from heaping trouble on your self. It takes faith to for example, to cut off part of your penis. (to be circumcised) And besides, find one to follow and tell me it made your life worse. OK?....Thanks.

Always remember, out of love it is done, and if you trip over one, find the grace of GOD and move onward. It is not your salvation in question, these can help sanctify your life. Remember too, that Messiah said "the scriptures speak of ME." and King David said "I delight in YOUR commandments / instructions / Torah / law"...he did not say they were a big cotton picking drag on his life, but rather a delightful, joyous experience.

Obviously we have no need to sacrifice animals any longer and yet some would have us toss out the entirety of the commandments and instructions. I THINK NOT. And if you think so, well then just violate all the commandments and see what happens to your life. And if we have no commandments to obey any longer then...(pardon me) well then...just give me your wife!!! I hope you get the point, because I am not in need of your wife brother, I just wanted you to stand up a moment...if not scream at the computer too.

  • TO PERHAPS WET YOU WHISTLE, I WILL LIST A FEW WE KNOW ABOUT AND KEEP IN MIND, GOD SAID ALL OF THEM, SO THAT THINGS GO WELL FOR US AND WE LIVE AS LONG AS HE DESIRES AND THAT WE PROSPER AND BECOME A BLESSING TO ALL.

Exodus 20 excerpts...Then God instructed the people as follows:"I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in Egypt. "Do not worship any other gods besides me. "Do not make idols of any kind, whether in the shape of birds or animals or fish. You must never worship or bow down to them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not share your affection with any other god! I do not leave unpunished the sins of those who hate me, but I punish the children for the sins of their parents to the third and fourth generations. But I lavish my love on those who love me and obey my commands, even for a thousand generations. "Do not misuse the name of the Lord your God. The Lord will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name. "Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days a week are set apart for your daily duties and regular work, but the seventh day (Shabbat / Saturday) is a day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any kind of work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; then he rested on the seventh day. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy. "Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God will give you. "Do not murder. "Do not commit adultery. "Do not steal. "Do not testify falsely against your neighbor. "Do not covet your neighbor's house. Do not covet your neighbor's wife, male or female servant, ox or donkey, or anything else your neighbor owns." When the people heard the thunder and the loud blast of the horn, and when they saw the lightning and the smoke billowing from the mountain, they stood at a distance, trembling with fear.

Here are a few from Leviticus: Good ones to know, many are not followed by HIS own people. Just try reading the ones I underscored first, see if they work for you, OK?

Lev. 18 excerpts...Then the Lord said to Moses, You must obey all my regulations and be careful to keep my laws, for I, the Lord, am your God. If you obey my laws and regulations, you will find life through them. I am the Lord. "You must never have sexual intercourse with a close relative, for I am the Lord. Do not violate your father by having sexual intercourse with your mother. She is your mother; you must never have intercourse with her. Do not have sexual intercourse with any of your father's wives, for this would violate your father. "Do not have sexual intercourse with your sister or half sister, whether she is your father's daughter or your mother's daughter, whether she was brought up in the same family or somewhere else. "Do not have sexual intercourse with your granddaughter, whether your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter; that would violate you. Do not have sexual intercourse with the daughter of any of your father's wives; she is your half sister. Do not have intercourse with your aunt, your father's sister, because she is your father's close relative. Do not have sexual intercourse with your aunt, your mother's sister, because she is your mother's close relative. And do not violate your uncle, your father's brother, by having sexual intercourse with his wife; she also is your aunt. Do not have sexual intercourse with your daughter-in-law; she is your son's wife. Do not have intercourse with your brother's wife; this would violate your brother. "Do not have sexual intercourse with both a woman and her daughter or marry both a woman and her granddaughter, whether her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter. They are close relatives, and to do this would be a horrible wickedness. "Do not marry a woman and her sister because they will be rivals. But if your wife dies, then it is all right to marry her sister. "Do not violate a woman by having sexual intercourse with her during her period of menstrual impurity. "Do not defile yourself by having sexual intercourse with your neighbor's wife. "Do not give any of your children as a sacrifice to Molech, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the Lord. "Do not practice homosexuality; it is a detestable sin. "A man must never defile himself by having sexual intercourse with an animal, and a woman must never present herself to a male animal in order to have intercourse with it; this is a terrible perversion. "Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the people I am expelling from the Promised Land have defiled themselves. As a result, the entire land has become defiled. That is why I am punishing the people who live there, and the land will soon vomit them out. You must strictly obey all of my laws and regulations, and you must not do any of these detestable things. This applies both to you who are Israelites by birth and to the foreigners living among you. "All these detestable activities are practiced by the people of the land where I am taking you, and the land has become defiled. Do not give the land a reason to vomit you out for defiling it, as it will vomit out the people who live there now. Whoever does any of these detestable things will be cut off from the community of Israel. So be careful to obey my laws, and do not practice any of these detestable activities. Do not defile yourselves by doing any of them, for I, the Lord, am your God."

You've proven here that The Word speaks for Himself. It takes a well skilled, Spirit-led and disciplined individual to rightfully divide the Word of Truth. Thanks for the clarity and passion that you've put into this hub!

May You Continue To Be Blessed!

quietness, you are much more direct, but if you'll notice I try to open up the wonderful Word sideways. I think in this day of automatic politically correct dislike of the mention of God, the dislike of intelligence and beauty, the appeal has to be something that is likely to catch people unawares.

It would be easier to say, "hey, just look at what God said." but anymore people put up an automatic defense and shut their ears. What a strange world we live in now, that embraces mediocrity and evil because people ignore the God in themselves and cuddle up only with their basest parts.

Keep up your good work.

Thanks for the feed back Idunn:

I speak like the scriptures do, direct, frank, honest, transparent, no fear, respectful, kind, or sharp when needed, or sarcastic at times, even crushing, it just depends on the need is all. Like it says, "reprove, exhort, admonish, correct, etc...we have plenty of people running around today stroking everyone ya know.

I tend to talk like a soldier, just making it real clear is all. I love people and yet I know that if I love them I will tell them the truth, even to my own hurt.

The wounds of a friend are faithful says the scripture. Not his political correctness...LOL :-)...i am sent to "break the mind of the evil ones and put in in subjection to the mind of Messiah"...this is not an easy task. I seem to walk around in full armor, carrying a sharp 2 edged sword, 5 smooth stones, a sling and shield.

I know what you are saying, I am pretty direct and to the point, like a judge would be. Respectful and frank. No ambiguity about me.

Definitions of ambiguous on the Web:

equivocal: open to two or more interpretations; or of uncertain nature or significance; or (often) intended to mislead; "an equivocal statement"

Take care Idunn :-)

Thanks James...ya know, I just post a hub, let others comment on it and make a reply to it and then let it stand. No need to edit someones comments at all...I have no fear and no image to keep polished...transparency is the policy. To be free.

This is the pattern in the scriptures.

Shalom
