Why some affiliates don't convert to sales

Many people start out with the idea that they will be successful immediately. After all, there are plenty of success stories out there where people made millions overnight with an automated system. However, it is important to understand the fundamentals behind success at internet marketing.

One main problem occurs when the marketer lacks consumer relevance. This is the most difficult thing for new marketers. Consumer relevance is vital to your online success. If someone is searching for a keyword tool and you drive them straight to a valuable resource page, if they don't immediately see the keyword tool icon, the buyer won't see the relevance and leave the website. This is where landing pages are critical. They help guide the buyer to the sale by pointing out the relevance that they are searching for based on their keyword.

Occasionally new marketers make the mistake of omitting their personality. While there are many people whose buying habits don't depend on the opinion of the salesman, others are more inclined to make a purchase from someone who is real. They enjoy interaction, testimonials. If you are on social media, make sure that you post a profile picture and identify some interesting things about yourself. Many people on the web think that the anonymity will benefit them, when that is actually not the case. Offer your personal advice, a pen name, even your email can help benefit you greatly. People will relate to you much more. When people ask questions, the conversion seems to be much higher.

Don't make the mistake of not being willing to work too hard. Hard work brings success. There is really no way around it. Doing the research to find out what your target audience is interested in is imperative. There are tools that make that research easier, however when you don't take that initial step, you won't reap the reward.

Too often, there is a lack of action altogether. It is important to take action on what you have learned. Create a learning experience for yourself where you invest 50% of your time in research and learning and the other 50% in implementation. People have a tendency to spend all of their time reading and performing market research and when it is time for action, they don't have any energy left. Make sure that action is involved.

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Make sure that you have goals in place. Break down your goals into easily manageable tasks. Some simple goals could include something as simple as finding 5 low competition keywords that get decent traffic. It could be building your first web page. It could be making your first sale.

Whatever the case, you need to set goals in order to achieve success. Write them down. A goal that is not written down is just a dream. Each goal you achieve is a brand new and exciting success!  Take action every day and eventually you will see the success that you'd hoped for.

Thanks for this hub. It has some very good tips when you dig beneath the surface. I will be looking at a few links on here as I need as much information as possible being new to all this. Your advice would be helpful on how you think my progress has gone in my first few weeks here.
