Little kids are the ones who are always questioning about everything they see or hear about! They can ask dozen of questions about just one thing, and are never satisfied until they get an answer. Kids of this decade have opened their eyes in a world full of technology and advancement. Internet is one of those many things about which we were not aware when we were kids, or when our parents were kids. If we solely look at just Internet, there are dozens of words which they have heard, and its not an easy task to describe the easy words to them. This article comprises of all the common words oriented to Internet for the kids in order to provide them with basics on Internet and to make it easy for them to comprehend the terms used by us on daily basis.

1) INTERNET: It is also known as the Net. The purpose of Internet is to provide the ability to connect computers world-wide, typically by using telecoms systems like telephone lines.

2) BROWSER: It is a program that permits Internet users to get information while being on Internet.

3) WORLD WIDE WEB (WWW): It is a cluster of information kept in form of multimedia on the Internet. This information is saved at places known as websites in form of web pages.

4) ELECTRONIC MAIL: It is the sending and receiving of messages from one user to another with the help of computer communications. These messages are the modern version of traditional letters or memos.

5) FILE TRANSFER: It is a chief use of the Internet including the movement of information about the Internet as copies of files.

6) INTRANET: It is a communication system which does the similar job like Internet solely inside a specific company or organization. An Intranet supplies and organization with services which are only available to authorised users and has good security for confidential information.

7) HYPER TEXT MARK-UP LANGUAGE (HTML): It is a computer language used to generate multimedia pages. It is used for www pages.

8) CHAT: It is a program that permits Internet users to converse interactively with other users.

9) NEWSGROUP: It is a message storage place that is devoted to a specific special- interest topic.

10) UNIFORM RESOURCE LOCATER (URL): It is the address for data on the Internet. Each resource has a name, its URL , which denotes the file or data and the place where it is located.

11) DIAL-UP: It is the use of a normal phone line and a modem to connect a local computer or terminal , to a remote computer service like Internet.

12) DOMAIN NAME: It is the name for the visible location or site , of a resource on the Internet.

13) CYBERSPACE: It is the absolute set of information which can be viewed via the Internet .

14) GRAPHICS INTERCHANGE FORMAT (GIF): It is a format which is used for storing graphics images as files.

15) SEARCH ENGINE: It is a computer program that searches a very large database to search data stuff which match a requested query.

16) INTERNET PROTOCOL:It is a customary set of rules used to guarantee the correct transfer of information between computers on the Internet.

17) TERMINAL SERVER: It is a computer that is connected to a local area network and access the Internet on demand from any of the terminals connected to the local area network.

18) PACKET INTERNET GROUPER (PING): It is a program that checks whether a computer with a specified address is attached to the Internet or not.

19) OFF-LINE: This term points out to a computer, which is usually connected to a network , but operating in stand-alone mode.

20) ON-LINE: This term points out to a computer , which is usually connected to a network , and perceptible for external connection to be made at all time on demand for users.
