I was working in a company. The company was flourishing well. The margins were very high. They had lot of overseas orders. The foreign customers were used to come to see our facilities. The company had three manufacturing units. The head office and one of the manufacturing units were located in a big city. The second unit to the east side around one hundred kilometers in a small town and the third unit was to the west side around one hundred fifty kilometers away in a city. The total strength of the workers in all the units was around fifteen thousand people.

The foreign delegates, customers, very prominent personalities used to visit our company. The roads to other units were narrow and taking a very long time for journeys. Then our management started thinking how to overcome this difficulty. They came to the conclusion to own a helicopter for the usage of high profile delegates. The helicopters designs, seating, cost etc got firmed up and they ordered for the helicopter. It was not available in off the shelf. It needs to be ordered and will be built custom made. The company received the new helicopter. Now they had to think to appoint a pilot for the helicopter to operate. They gave advertisement for the pilot. They were not getting any pilot, as they were scarce in the market. They were getting very good salary and perks in airlines. They were interested in how many flying hours they will get. Our usage was limited thereby they will not get more flying hours. After lot of search they were able to get a pilot.

They need to think of building helipads at the manufacturing units. They built the helipads as per the norms at the manufacturing units. It started operating. The things went on very smoothly. They also tied up with the manufacturer for periodic maintenance and also shelter to halt at a particular sum.

The helipads became tourist attraction for the people of that small town. This helipad was located to the side of the main road in front of the factory. The fire engines, ambulance vans, security will be stationed at that area. Seeing this people nearby with their children used to assemble in large numbers at this area to have the glimpse of the helicopter landing. They were used to wait until the helicopter flies away. It was a fun for them. They used to see airplanes in the skies and having not seen from such a short distance.

One group of delegates came after showing the first unit and they were taken by helicopter to second unit. Our chairmen wanted certain clarifications from the first unit. He spoke to the concerned and asked him to come with the file. The helicopter was sent to first unit to pick the concerned officer. This officer it was his first experience to travel in a helicopter. He was so happy and a helicopter had come to pick him up. He boarded the helicopter after few minutes of travel it started with some problem. Then pilot informed there is a problem in the helicopter and he need to make emergency landing. Pilot able to bring down to somewhat leveled ground. It was a jungle. Pilot told the officer to be seated in the helicopter and he will get the mechanics, other required items for the repairs from the city. The pilot had to walk few kilometers to find the road. Then he reached the city. By the time he reached city it was night. Pilot made arrangement for the mechanics and the materials needed. He planned to go to the spot in the morning to get repaired the helicopter.

The officer who was sitting in the helicopter became afraid. He is alone in jungle. He could get some water to drink in the helicopter. There was no food. He was very fond of taking heavy foods. It made him hungrier. He was alone and darkness frightened him very much. The animals, birds flying made him to shiver in the darkness. He was almost half dead by the time sun light started coming. He became then alert.

The pilot along with mechanics and required items reached the spot in the morning. They repaired the helicopter and brought back to the city. It was the experience of the officer that too for first time travels in a helicopter.

The days passed and the helicopter was idling for most of the time. They tried to give on hire to political parties, picture shooting etc. It was incurring very heavy expenditures. They had to pay in millions for its maintenance. The company thought it is not worth maintaining the helicopter. They thought of disposing the helicopter. It is very difficult to dispose also as there were no buyers. After lot of struggle they disposed at a throw away cost. The company incurred huge expenditure in buying the helicopter. They realized this afterwards.
