Whether it's tough economical times your facing or clear smooth sailing on the financial horizon, saving that hard earned cash is always a top priority. Now more than ever before, people are becoming financial conscious machines, and when it comes down to money matters that involve investments, loans or bills, decisions can go down to the nearest cent. Telecommunication and Utility services have also come under heavy scrutiny by the consumer, as there can be significant savings to be made in highly in the competitive associated industries.
Broadband in Australia is market that is relatively new and competitive and one where switching providers and Internet services is common. The ease in which churning from one provider to another, and the savings that can be made in this market make Broadband one of the most popular avenues in which to save a few bucks. The ease and inexpense of a Broadband service transfer process, compared to other industries, is perhaps one of the strongest points that make Australian Broadband services and prices very competitive.
Comparing Broadband plans and services in Australia can be a very tedious and convoluting experience. First of all there's all the aspects of Broadband Internet to consider. These are as follows: Types - ADSL, ADSL2+, Wireless, Mobile Broadband, Naked DSL and Satellite; Broadband Speeds - 512k, 1500k, 8Mbps, 24Mbps; Provider Quality; Terms, Conditions, Contracts and Hidden fees; Bundling Discounts; Availability; and Data Usage (how much do will you need?). This information may be OK for some to decipher, but for many regular people who are new to broadband or haven’t churned providers before, it may be a little overwhelming.
Searching for advice and information and sifting through all the Broadband technical jargon can be a very painstaking ordeal for many. There are of course various Internet resources sites out there which appear to be helpful, however the opinions and advice that you could encounter from such can be very bias, uninformed and ignorant. Getting the cheapest Broadband deal or simply acquiring a Broadband plan to suit your needs seems simple on paper, however signing up to a Broadband Internet Service Provider that has cheap plans could become your worst nightmare. For example, their Broadband network could be very congested making Internet access impossible. Trying to contact their customer support team could be just as bad. You may even find that after initially joining an Internet Provider, they could just as quickly turn around and cancel your service as your telephone exchange is full. If your lucky they could offer you another type of service however it’s worth noting that ISP’s aren’t held accountable for these type of responsibilities. I know, as this has happened to me before!
Horse for courses, better the devil you know, or any other cliché that makes sense to you... Do yourself a favour, stick to one of the better known providers, don't necessarily take the cheap broadband plan cause cheapest doesn't necessarily equal best (remember there's reason for its cheapness), and start off small, as it's usually free to upgrade but it can cost you to downgrade. Oh yeah, almost forgot, read the Provider’s Broadband Terms and Conditions! Don't get stung by the hidden fees and early termination charges!
My advice to you is... try a well known and respectable Broadband comparison website. They’re usually impartial, list Australia's leading ISP's and show all the finer details in black and white.
Good luck.
