Contract Plans Vs. Prepaid

I don't need your free phone, or, how Tracfone and Boost Mobile compare...

I have a good friend who told me recently that he could not wait for this new phone to come out and how excited he was that his wireless provider was going to give him the phone for free.

When I asked him if the cell phone was really "free," he sort of looked back at me with a blank expression and said, "ummm, yeah."

I responded that there is nothing free in this world, especially things that come with a two-year contract.  My friend hadn't even considered that there was another option other than to be a hamster on a wheel and just continue to sign new contracts with Verizon for his "new every two" cell phone.

I told him about some of the prepaid cell phone plans available, particularly some of the recent ones that have been released by companies like MetroPCS, T-Mobile, and Tracfone, and he was stunned.

When I told him how much these prepaid cellular phone plans were priced, I felt kind of bad because now he wanted to get out of his contract.

Prepaid cell phone plans abound these days. You can find very aggressive prepaid plans from several companies. Do your research and save your cash!

One thing you should know is that there are a lot of great prepaid plans out there vying for your attention--and your business.  In addition to Tracfone Straight Talk and Boost Mobile's Monthly Unlimited plans, MetroPCS, Cricket, and AT&T all have plans that may work for you and save you money every month on your cell phone bill.

How to Choose Your Prepaid Phone Plan

Finding a cheap prepaid phone plan takes a little bit of looking out of the box, a little bit of time, and a little bit of research.

Things you want to look at when you are looking at prepaid cell phone plans are of course price, cell phone models available, and any add on fees. You do not want to purchase a new phone plan only to learn that you have severely restricted use on the account.

Also, you should know that pay as you go cellular phones are not for everybody. If you are a huge talker and text message person, than you may want to stick with your solid wireless contract plan.

That being said, the pay as you go phone market is making inroads to the traditional cell phone market by offering very aggressive unlimited prepaid plans like Tracfone that are beginning to entice many people over the prepay side of the tracks.

As prepaid cell phone plans from companies like Boost Mobile, Tracfone, MetroPCS, and Cricket become more competitive, more people are becoming interested in prepaid cell phone plans.

Tracfone is probably my favorite provider of this type of wireless service.  They are 12 million users strong and it consistently ranks in the top few companies in terms of satisfaction with customers.

There are always tracfone promo codes being offered, or special deals for free or ridiculously low priced cell phones like the Motorola w370, or other various offers.  The double minutes for life feature is very attractive for people who want to save money on their phone bills.

Definitely look into the offers from these companies and see which plan will work best for you.

Unlimited Plans and the Competition

Some of the best prepaid wireless providers are Tracfone, Cricket, MetroPCS, and Boost Mobile.  Tracfone, MetroPCS, and Boost Mobile all have very competitive unlimited prepaid phone plans out right now, which offer the best savings.

If one had to win the competition for best (and most affordable) offer, I would have to say that Tracfone probably tops the bill with its Straight Talk prepaid plan that runs on the strong Verizon wireless network.  ***Read more about the Tracfone Unlimited Plan.

It is also very affordable, with an unlimited plan that costs $45 and a 1,000 minutes and text plan that goes for $30.

Thirty bucks for 1,000 minutes and 1,000 text messages?  Ummm---sign me up!  If you have any information about prepaid cell phone plans you have had a good experience (or a bad one) with, let us know in a comment below.  Thanks for reading.
