Creating a Landing Page

Creating a great landing page is key to your success as an internet marketer. Many times, people will find your website and leave if it does not provide them with information that they find useful. Therefore, you want to captivate their attention with relevant information. It allows you the opportunity to pre-sell and offer reviews of a product, as well as offer highly relevant information. This helps your readers know exactly that your website contains the information that they are seeking. When using direct linking (linking straight from your ad to the merchant), you rely strictly on the sales page of the merchant to convert your traffic into a sale. Occasionally merchants aren't experts in marketing and have great products, but poor sales techniques.

The two main types of landing pages are review style pages and testimonial style pages. Both can work well, but readers often prefer the review style better. A good review style page will include industry information, product comparisons and outgoing links to merchant sites. The testimonial style landing pages consist of long text that focuses on promoting one particular product from a first person point of view. Usually, the testimonial explains how the product has improved their life.

Review pages are preferrable. People want to do research prior to buying something. If you can provide them with a quality comparison, you will save them time searching for that information. They are much more likely to make a purchase. There are many components of an effective review. Each one of these components is very important and adds additional value to a review. Be sure to include a captivating and relevant header, between three and seven product reviews, brief descriptions, attribute rankings, product images or screen shots, and visible exit points directing the reader to the merchant sites.

A testimonial-style landing page is a comprehensive outline of a product or services that is written in first person tense. Testimonial landing pages will usually outline experiences one has with these products and generates product interest through personal promotions. An effective testimonial style landing page depends on the aspect of connecting with the reader on an emotional level. If you are writing a testimonial landing page, consider the following questions - What would this person be thinking if they were interested in this product? Why would they be reluctant to purchase the product? How is it going to improve their life? What is the risk involved in purchasing this product? Answer these questions effectively and you will be on your way to making a sale.

A great testimonial-style landing page captivates the person's interest, answers all of the questions they could potentially have, and builds them to a comfort level where they feel good about purchasing the product. Often products and services sold online have a 100% money-back guarantee, which helps remove the risk in buying online. So really, there is nothing to lose for a customer if they are interested in trying a product. If they don’t like, they simply ask for a refund and get their money back. If you do use a testimonial style landing page, make sure that you emphasize this point.
