Do you hate the sound of your fan running?
Do you have a little extra cash to spare?

If you answered yes to both of these you might consider looking into liquid cooling.

What is liquid cooling?

Liquid cooling can be called the radiator for your computer. Liquid cooling filters though a heat sink attached to your computers processor. As the liquid passes through the heat sink the heat is transferred from the heat sink to the cooled liquid. The heat is transferred outside the case and cold liquid is transferred back inside the computer.

Why use it?

Well there are many advantages to liquid cooling

  1. Quieter Computer - your computer will not be filled with fans. Heatsink and fan combination's tend to make a lot of noise. Having liquid cooling the liquid acts as a noise reducer in the tubing.
  2. Less heat related stress - Your computer will not only be quieter but the components inside will also be cooler this means that it will be less likely that your parts will burn out due to overheating.
  3. Higher clock speeds (Faster computer) - Because your computer will be substantially colder you will be able to overclock your computer and make it faster.

    Disadvantages to Liquid Cooling

As every item there are advantages and disadvantages..
Some of the disadvantages as follow

    1. The size of the kits used - Liquid cooling kits are not small.. They tend to be rather large because of the fact it has to filter and cool your liquid some kits can weigh up to 10 pounds. Also if you have a basic computer case they might not fit inside them the components vary in size so if you were looking to purchase you might want to look into if it will fit your computer case.
    2. Technical Skill Required to Install - For the basic computer person this might be a difficult task.. To install one of these things can be a pain.. But if you know someone who can do this or are very good at following directions this wont be a problem.
    3. Price - Did I mention if you have a little extra cash at the top? Well cooling kits are not cheap at all they can range from $70 to well over $500 for a kit.
    4. Spilling and leakage - Some kits are cheap and the tubing inside them are fragile and easily break. One of the major flaws in liquid cooling is the fact the tubing can break and leak all over your hardware and damage it. Remember you get what you paid for if you buy cheap goods your going to get cheap goods.
