Computer Technology

In todays world without techonlogy man would be lost. Do you think that we would have evolved without technology? I sometimes wonder the same thing. I know without it we would still be taking trips that take many days just to get to town and back. I began to wonder who gave us this amazing gift to live our lives as highly evolved citizens. Was it Freidrich Winzor (Winsor) who pattended gas lighting? Or possibly Humphry Davy, who invented the first electric light also known as a arc lamp. A question that is often asked is “Did we over do ourselves”, meaning are we ready for this much new technolgy.

Robots were invented by technology, those robots that would take many of the jobs that we humans could use to put food and bread on the table for our familys. Is technology really friend or foe? A good way to look at this would be for example, a few years back they had a robot that would go inside buildings and disarm explosives that could save lives. I would imagine they still use this today, if not they would be foolish not to. This earns points in my eyes for technology, But on the other hand what about that guy who lost his job as a automotive sprayer? He had to give his life up for a robot that would perform his daily duties and never need a restroom break.

I am so greatful that I am able to ride in cars, on trains, or fly in the air. Without the help of technolgy we would still be crawling back to the caveman days. I could not imagine sitting around a camp fire looking at someone else with a big rock bat in my hand. But I come to still wonder if we are doing ourselves any justice using modern day technology. As a computer technician I wonder in the years to come am I going to have to give up my job to something that is wearing a nice silver shirt and silver pants, someone that will work twice as hard as me? If I ever seen a machine that looks like me, whats the expression “It would be on like Donkey Kong!”
