Starting it off with a "D"

No I don't mean I give him a D for a grade on his first show. Apparently Conan felt he needed to steal a piece of property belonging to a city in California for his first show. During one of the skits on Conan's first Tonight Show he had some guys from the crew steal the "D" from the "HOLLYWOOD" sign, turning the landmark into a sight to be laughed at by all, by making it "HOLLYWOO" . At the end of the skit, the stage hands carrying the gigantic  D , broke the mass of wood turning it into nothing more than a large piece of trash. The skit was set up to show everyone how big Conan's new studio is.

Other skits included in Conan's first show were, Conan running from New York to California and forgetting his keys to the studio, Conan directing a Universal Studios tour through the streets of L.A. , and actor Will Farrell being carried into the studio by four men like an Egyptian king. The band to play on Conan's first night, Perl Jam.

To close, something that should be obvious to most, but just in case, and not to get myself in any trouble. The story above, about the skit with the HOLLYWOOD "D" was based on a skit, not actual events. I don't believe anyway, you never know with Conan though.
