SO PROUD!

This is an exciting time and I could not be more proud to be a Californian right now. May 15th, 2008 California Supreme Court ruled in favour of gay marriage. Gay and lesbian couples can tie the knot in as little as a month. We should be proud and celebrate how far we have come. Love is love no who you are.

Love is Love no matter who you are!

I don't understand, have never understood, and never care to understand why some people think they are more deserving of love then others. I understand the bible as much as anyone, but where does it say we have the right to judge. As some may have noticed I wrote about this very topic in a previous hub Conveniently Religious. Where does it say treat your brothers and sisters like scum for loving or being different?

I have had and have many gay and lesbian friends. The only difference I have found between them is their ability to love more openly. They see you as human and love equally. What is so wrong with that? Whatever happened to that great hippie movement for FREE LOVE? Love is no longer free, some of us are allowed to love, others must do so in secret or with limitations.

Unfortunately some people are so stubborn and refuse to be accepting that this historical moment will quickly be appealed by religious leaders everywhere.

Lets celebrate anyway!

It has taken a long time to get where we are. No matter what others are trying to do to take this moment away from the gay community, it is time to celebrate. Congratulations to everyone out there who is now going to be able to experience the joy of marriage! I could not possibley be happier for all of you at this moment.

Before I go, let me not forget to thank Yahoo News for the great pictures!

Now get out there and celebrate people!

An amazing development! It will be interesting to see what other US states follow - I can guess the ones that won't! Great hub.

I can take a couple guesses too! O well the point is some of us are moving forward and with any luck many others will follow! Glad you liked the hub.

Great hub - you captured nicely why so many of us are thrilled with this decision.

My initial responses were, this helps uphold the civil and human rights of all people. There will be a backlash - that is to be expected, because many people hold opinions opposed to such legal steps to creating fair and equal rights for all.

I hope that Californians weight the issues and come up with a decision to support this important decision by the state supreme court - if we take away the civil rights of one group, we erode the civil rights of us all.

Based on what I have read regarding past voting poles on this matter my guess is it will be close, but those for this motion are likely to win.

Well, anything that increases civil and human rights are generally OK with me, even if I am not directly involved in a particular issue, I do see the eroding of the rights for one as an eroding of the rights for all.
