Connery James Bond was he the best?
40Background
Sean Connery was he the best James Bond? Well this is always the debate when it comes to James Bond films. He was the 1st official James Bond and appeared in 7 films which were; Dr No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You only Live Twice, Diamonds are Forever, Never Say Never Again.
You could argue the more recent James Bonds have had bigger budgets into which to play the role. Sean Connery had both the physical attributes in which to play the role together with the suave demeaner in which to play the role Ian Flemming the writer would have wanted.
Comparisons
There are the other actors who have played the role such as Moore, Brosnan and Craig, but every woman wanted to be loved by Connery and every man wanted to be him.
You could argue that Moore took the role too light hearted at times, whilst the more recent actors Brosnan and Craig rely on the more blockbuster surroundings and special effects.
I suppose Sean Connery's number 1 film as James Bond will always be Dr No as this was his first and he even went back to return doing Never Say Never again 20 years onfrom the very first James Bond that he did.
Conclusion
Sean Connery was just a class act at playing the role.
