The Power of Positive Thinking

Consciously Creating Your World

Ever since ancient times people have understood that positive thinking creates positive results in your life. Building on this ancient practice, I felt compelled to organize my own ideas concerning the power of positive thinking.

I start by understanding that when I say something out loud, I give that idea power. Therefore, I always try not to put negativity into words because negativity doesn't need encouragement and when you say something out loud, you give that idea a voice (literally!).

Likewise, when you want something positive to happen, you should say it out loud, write it down and articulate what it is you want. For example, as a musician, it is common for different band members to come and go. When Pompeii V was in Iowa City, we had 5 different bass players. I distinctly remember that each time we needed a bass player, the band members would say out loud "...we need a bass player." And, sure enough, each time we needed a bass player, a bass player would appear! Moreover, the new bass player always seemed to come from right before our eyes, meaning they were there the whole time and we never thought of it! Some people say that humans can control the universe with their minds, and while I have not seen any direct scientific proof that we can move energy with our mind, I don't rule it out. I am not talking about telekinesis and the bending of silver spoons and forks with your brain power, although I think that would be cool! I just believe that positive thinking yields positive results. The world is what we say it is.

I have become a big believer in vocalizing your dreams out loud because I think that you begin to create that energy. Destiny is what it is called. Everyday of your life you are creating your destiny. Like the game "Blinko" on The Price Is Right, the circular puck is dropped from the top and it bounces this way and that when it hits the pegs on the way down. No one knows into which slot the Blinko will fall at the bottom because no one can predict which way it will bounce after hitting 10 or 15 pegs on the way down. We are like the Blinko, moving through life and going this way or that after we hit each peg, only we can control which way we go after each peg (or life event).

In conclusion, I am not going to go through life as an observer, I am going to do something! I might not always know what, but I know I am going to do it with passionate positivity!

All things in the universe are energy. Thoughts are energy. It makes sense that intention can change external events to a certain degree. I've used it succesfully and it does work.

Excellent Hub. Love your point:"Likewise, when you want something positive to happen, you should say it out loud, write it down and articulate what it is you want." I also believe in learning other skills to overcome our negative side that pops up too often. Feel free to see how I try to help others in new ways. Sincerely: Gary Eby, author and therapist.
