Are you considering having Breast Augmentation?

Breast enhancement is by a long way the most popular cosmetic procedure undertaken by women world wide. Hundreds of thousands of women undergo this procedure every year, and as the practice becomes more accepted in the mainstream, the numbers continue to increase on a yearly basis.

As breast enhancement becomes more and more popular, it's becoming increasingly important for consumers to be educated about the decisions that they make in relation to the surgery, as an informed consumer is able to make the correct decisions to suit their own personal circumstances.

Considerations before having Breast Augmentation Surgery

First, let's talk about choosing the right size of breasts to suit you. Deciding on the size of breasts that you would like is a personal decision, but there are a few things that you should keep in mind when choosing a breast size.

The size of your enhanced breasts should be considered in the context of your existing body shape and size. If you are have small breasts to start with, you may not have the skin available to support large breast implants. This can result in your implants being visible due to the fact that your skin has been stretched too thin to accomodate the large implants.

You also need to be aware that large breasts can place undue srtess on your body, especially the lower back. Talk to your surgeon about the right sized implants for your body type and shape.

Next, we'll talk about the cost of the procedure. Most medical insurance will not cover breast augmentation surgery, so you will probably need to bear the complete cost yourself. The cost of breast augmentations surgery can vary greatly from doctor to doctor. It's important that you talk to your doctor about the costs involved, including any on-going costs for follow up consultations, and costs of corrective procedures if you're not satisfied with the results.

On to the Surgeon. you should find a surgeon that makes you feel comfortable. A prospective surgeon should be happy to answer any questions you may have, as well as freely offer advice as to the right procedure and type of implants most suited to you.

Your surgeon should obviously be licensed and board certified, and should be happy to talk to you about success rates, and show you examples of previous work that they have performed.

Finally, which type of implants are right for you? you have two options as far as implants go, Saline or Silicone. Each of these have benefits and drawbacks.

Saline implants are inflated after they are inserted into the breast, meaning that the surgical incision is smaller, and recovery can be less painful and last a shorter time.

Silicone implants, while requiring a slightly larger incision, are the choice of some women because they look and feel rounder.

Talk to your surgeon about the right type of implant for you.

As you can see, there are many things that need to be taken into consideration when considering undergoing breast implant surgery. It is important that you talk to your doctor about all the options available to you.

If you are in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area, Dr. Kesarwani, the Toronto Plastic Surgeon would love to talk to you about your options.
