High pitched ringing in my ears troubled me sometime recently. The first time I heard these bugging noises, I thought I was just fine. I thought that the ringing will just get away, but it did not.
For more than five years I have been experiencing constant ringing in my ear, and over these five short years, I have well educated myself about tinnitus – what causes it, how to avoid it, and how to keep it from ruining your good life. Tinnitus is a disturbing thing for almost all afflicted by it. This hearing problem was normally a problem of the elderly, but more and more young people are being affected by this problem, which means that age is becoming less of a predisposing factor. Hearing problems gets in the way of healthy living more than people have learned and it is important to know what we have to avoid and what we have to do. I would like to share to you these few things I have learned from my own experience. Readers – with or without tinnitus – should be interested.
- Excessive noise. My tinnitus including many others’ is caused by loud noise exposure. I worked at a brick factory and never worried about the risks of exposing myself to extreme noise in the area. We were issued ear plugs at work, but sometimes I forget to wear them. Consequence is the constant ringing in my ear. Anyway, I did my own research about it and I learned that any sound that is too loud is not good for your ears. Luckily, I did not sustain hearing loss. Some people go deaf after they come in contact with constant loud noise.
- Stress. Health practitioners know that stress impairs the immune system. Exhaustion, anxiety, anger, and negative emotions lead to stress. What ear specialists know is that stress may come along with tinnitus. What is not quite clear is whether it is tinnitus that brings stress or it is stress that brings about tinnitus. However, many patients say that when they are too tired from work or when they are mad their tinnitus seems to be louder.
- Unhealthy diet. Vitamin deficiency has been linked to tinnitus. According to research, a significant number of people with tinnitus have vitamin B12 deficiency. The relationship is not yet successfully established but taking vitamin B12 supplements led to good results. Deficiency in minerals like magnesium and zinc is also associated with tinnitus. Scientists agree that poor nutrition causes a lot of diseases and one of them can be tinnitus.
Many diseases and disorders give rise to tinnitus. One important thing I noted, which you should note too, is that tinnitus can be really bothersome at first but you could learn living with it. The constant ringing in my ear does not bother me anymore as much as it did before. There are a lot of natural remedies that can help.
