There is something about construction games that makes them very satisfying. Things need to be fitted together. Sometimes a lot of puzzles have to be solved so that whatever you are building won’t fall down. If it is something mechanical or electrical, It has to work when it’s finished. Then, when it’s all ready, you can stand back and admire your handiwork.

Tower Bloxx

In Tower Bloxx you are trying to build tall. You have a crane and plenty of modules. Placing the modules is a bit tricky. That crane keeps swinging from side to side. It's all to do with knowing when to let go.

This game has won a lot of awards. It is already popular on mobiles and facebook and is now out as a flash game. You can choose a quick game where you just build a single tower or you can build a whole city.

The better you build the more people will move into your building.

Stackopolis

You have to construct a building that looks exactly like the picture that they give you. You click on the blocks to add or remove them. It sounds easy but the clock is ticking and it is a race against time. As you go through the different levels it gets more and more tricky.

Cargo Bridge

Cargo Bridge has won a lot of awards and plenty of fans. You use wood or steel to build the strongest bridge you can then persuade some workers it is safe to start delivering crates to your hut. Sometimes an elephant is included in the delivery so your design has to be very, very tough. If it isn't, the bridge collapses and the workers fall a long, long way.

Catastrophic Construction

This is a great game for any age. You are trying to place various building blocks into their locations but they are hard to manage, In fact, they float off all over the screen and you have to coax, force or plead with them to go into the right place. This is a genuinely fun (if sometimes frustrating way) pastime.

Grow Cube

You are given a boring looking brown cube and a load of things that you can place on it. You don’t need to do much besides choose the order of what you drop into your cube. After that you just watch what happens.

The fun is that a lot of stuff happens. It is surprising, strange and exciting to watch. And no two games are ever the same. You soon start to understand that the order you put things is very important.

Let it Flow

This is for the plumber in everyone.

You are out in Africa. Some mischievous hyenas have dug up the water supply for the village. The crops are starting to wilt and it is a race against time to get the plumbing sorted out. The problem is that there are many different kinds of pipe and they all need to be connected properly. Any mistakes and  when you turn up the pressure there can be a serious problem.  So you need to be quick to save the crops but careful that your pipes don’t leak like crazy!

The Electric Box

You are constructing an electrical circuit in a game that needs a lot of lateral thinking. It’s not just a question of running a few cables. Sometimes, you send the power as light to a solar panel, sometimes as water to a turbine, sometimes as steam from an electric kettle. It all gets fiendishly complicated and more and more wonderful.

This game has won so many awards the next game from the studio will probably see you building some new shelves to keep them all.

Building Blaster

Set explosives and timers then blast a building to pieces but be careful not to damage any parts you are not supposed to. There is lot of skill in the game and a lot of game play- 50 levels- before you are an expert with explosives. One of the best demolition games around! Highly addictive and highly recommended.
