Boracay Island
Boracay a tropical Philippine island, now a world renowned island and is regarded as some to have the most beautiful beaches in the world, we agree.
Boracay is now one of the Philippines most popular tourist destinations.
Originally the island was then home of the Ati tribe and was relatively undiscovered up until around the 1970s when travellers and backpackers started to discover the beauty of the island.
In fact Boracay Island was a guarded secret and some say almost possessively so that only a few knew of its existence.
Some say that the natural beauty of the islands was discovered by accident by a foreign film crew other people believe it was a german traveller called 'Jens Peters' book, which included rave reviews of Boracay that changed the island’s pace from that of being a quiet secret to eventually being voted as having the best beach in the world.
Anyhow no matter what story is correct it’s a fact that the magnificent paradise Boracay island is now a hotspot favourite tourist destination and the once almost deserted beaches are now a hive of leisure and exciting activity enjoyed by everyone lucky enough to be there.
There are three main beaches on the Boracay Island:
White Beach - on the west side of the island, some 4km long, which is the focus of the tourist industry
Bulabog Beach - on the east side of the island has an excellent coral reef and a more relaxed atmosphere that White Beach
Puka Beach – in the north is a beautiful pink coloured beach, quiet peaceful and beach, perfect for romantic walks and tranquillity and also where the rare Puka shells are found.
