Continental Finance MasterCard information

This MasterCard credit card is issued by First Bank of Delaware and it looks to be a decent solution in terms of credit cards for poor credit. Having a not so good credit rating, you can still get Continental Finance MasterCard credit card. It's an unsecured credit card with pretty high fees (expectable for all credit cards for poor credit).

Good sides:

  • You can get it easily, even with poor credit
  • You can use it for every occasion you need a MasterCard, just like any other MasterCard
  • There are no minimum finance charges
  • 25 days of grace period
  • Monthly periodic rate results in lower effective rate
  • Decent amount of good reviews for Continental Finance MasterCard by users
  • Reports to major credit bureaus

Bad sides:

  • Pretty high one time fee (understandable because it's a credit card for poor credit)
  • Pretty high annual fee (also understandable for reason above)
  • Available only in the USA

What it offers:

  • Real MasterCard for all your MasterCard needs
  • Poor credit friendly
  • Monthly periodic rate resulting in lower effective rate

Summary:

Continental Finance MasterCard could be your choice for a credit card for poor credit. Downsides such as high fees shouldn't turn you away because you need to expect them with all credit cards for poor credit. Good luck!

If you are looking to get early benefit of credit cards while improve your credit score, this is certainly a good option to have. We only need to allocate some cash on the first fee.

high fees understandable, but $200 for APPLICATION FEES? Then they charge the annual fee now? That's 250.00 and got a credit of 300? so that leads me with 50 to spend? NOT WORTH IT!!!

Yes, it's a lot, but still... this is a credit card for poor rating and high fees are expected.

This is the worst card you can ever get. DO NOT GET THIS CARD!!!!! They are a scam. They are suppose to help you get your credit back, instead they ruin your credit. There are monthly fees even if you don't use the card. There are charges I never even herd of. Trust me this card sucks!!!!!!!

To Veronica: I'm pretty sure that all the fees are in the papers you signed, you have to read more carefully what you sign. Also, many people report that this card is good, you can see that in the comments here too.

This card sucks. I have had my card for 1 1/2 years. At first it was good. Then once they moved me to Gold, my service with them hit rock bottom. I made a payment, they subtracted 4 payments from my bank account all the same day, left me with some bounced checks. Two months later, they tried again, after I had already paid them and had a long term stop payment with my bank on them. Do not get this card!!!

THIS CARD DOES IN FACT SUCK! VERONICA IS RIGHT AND SO IS JAMES - $250 FOR $300 DOES NOT WORK AND DID IN FACT LEAVE ME WITH $50 , I MADE PAYMENTS AND INSTEAD GOT SCREWED OVER AND NOW MY CREDIT IS WORSE AND MY NEW OWED BALANCE IS 696.84!! IF YOU GET THIS CARD DO NOT USE THEIR "HELPFUL MONEY" YOU'LL SPEND THAT $50 FOR AN EMERGENCY AND WIND UP OWEING ALMOST $700 OR MORE. HOW THE HECK DOES THAT HELP ME! DO NOT USE THIS CARD

Ive had the card for about 6 months. Then all of a sudden i started getting phone calls. starting at around 8am on thanksgiving day. Asking me if i want to pay my next bill.. Which was not due yet. My bill was always paid on time, Yet they have been harassing me with 10+ calls a day asking me to pay my "nearly due" payment. Wich i still have weeks to pay. Then i aked them to please stop calling. The woman on the phone said "i'll call whoever i want, Whenever i want" and she hung up on me. Just run a google on the company's name. You will see hundreds of other complaints of the same nature..

Here is what i think they are doing. They hit you with $250 or so of fee's before you even use the card. It is my firm belief that what they do is allow you to activate the card, And if youre lucky even get some use out of it.. Then they sttart harassing people, in hopes they will pay off the card and cancel the account. Because if you just pay them the balance and close the card, before you have really even used it, they just made $250 for absolutely nothing. I had also read that people had closed their accounds, and still revieced bills every moth after cancelling the card. and the company would not do anything about it. VERY shady company. and i am going to be contacting the attourney general.

We have had the card for almost a year now and really have no problems. Yes the fees are high, but we didn't get this card so we could run out and buy stuff. A revolving credit account in good standing is very important to getting your credit scores up. That is why we got it. We have been paying the minimum and every month they report that we pay on time and our scores go up. Once we get them to a high enough number to qualify for a card with less fees and a better intrest rate we will pay it off and eventually close it out. In theory these cards are really for "buying" a better credit score.

In refrence to "shawn's" post: we got one of those calls before our very first bill was due. Once we made our first payment on time they never called us again.
