Natural curly hair is a wonderful, beautiful, frightful, and crazy hair type. Being curly is a blessing when you think about it. After all many people get permanent waves just to have fuller hairstyles.

But as everyone knows we like what everyone else has. That's just the way it is. We want to be straight a lot of the times and just regret it when our hair gets dull and tangly when near moisture and tries to revert back.

Bottom line is,to care for curly hair we have to understand how to smooth it to define the curls and learn how to keep it smooth. frizz free, and healthy..

Conditioning

Keeping curly hair moisturized is very important because of all the products used to help it hold. Water may calm it down but it has nothing to add shine nor moisture. Once dried you will have dull and dry hair. Add leave in conditioners and moisurizers to your spray bottle it has a little hold and shine to them.

Remember nothing from nothing leaves nothing.

Give your hair a moisturizing conditioner every two weeks to keep the hair supple especially the ends.

Drying Curls

Use a diffuser to dry your hair. This a very necessary tool. It won't blow your hair all over the place like a blow dryer without this attachment.Look at this demo video.You can add lift to your hair instead of the hanging droopy curls.

Curl Products

There are many wonderful products now for curls. You will have to experiment for the ones that work best for you. Setting lotion in curls can give you a good hold and can be diluted with water for a softer hold. If your hair is thicker a heaver gel type product can be used for a smoother curl texture.

Liquid shine in the hair before and after drying will work fine for most hair. A non oil base spray shine is great for curly hair that doesn't react well with oils. If you can't find an oil free shine spray go to a wig store. They differently have them for their human and synthetic wigs.

Sleep in a large satin hair bonnet to avoid drying out your hair on your sheet and pillow cases or satin pillow cases.

Straighten Out Hair

If your hair can  be set, you can have it set on the grey or purple large rollers then wrap in around your head. This is called a doobie. Spray the shine oil and go under dryer 10 more minutes. Comb out to wonderful straight hair. You will have great bounce and body that will last all week.

If your hair is too curly for a set you can use a ceramic iron. But alway use a moisturizing smoothing product made for ceramic iron to evenly distribute this quality flat ironing method.Always be mindful of retaining moisture in your hair.

Trimming Ends

Trimming the ends keeps your hair very controllable and groomed by removing those dry straggly ends. Your hair will detangle better and have less shedding if your trimming is maintained at least every two months. If your hair has never been trimmed you may have a little more cutting to do to achieve a groomed look when straightened out.

It's hard to have groomed curls and notice growth if your hair is breaking faster than it's growing. This is why bi-monthly trimming is so important. Those aweful ends will break up your hair shaft just like a torn pair of stockings making your hair look unhealthy and ungroomed.

You now have a foundation to maintain your beautiful curly hair. Yes your hair is beautiful, just misunderstood.
