Salmon is one of those special foods which seem to be classy yet reasonably priced. It can be made into different dishes with either subtle or robust flavors. There are many ways to prepare salmon but the simplest way is to know how to grill a salmon.
The first step you have to do to achieve cooking the perfect salmon is to select the right kind of salmon to eat. The rule is to get it as fresh as possible. But remember that it is preferable to buy a fish that has been frozen and recently defrosted at the market than to buy a fresh fish that has been sitting for days. You should look for clear eyes and clean red gills. It is also important to smell the fish and determine if it is still fresh.
A salmon is a fat and sturdy fish. It is able to hold up a variety of cooking styles which includes grilling, broiling, baking and pan-frying. Whatever cooking method you use, it is important not to let it dry out. The dry heat method like baking and grilling requires the salmon to be exposed in heat for approximately 10 minutes until it flakes and a bit opaque looking. Salmons can be prepared by using a diversity of flavors ranging from sauces to marinades. Veggies like asparagus and mushrooms are also added treats to this fish meat.

Here are some of salmon recipes you can try cooking in your home:
- The oven-baked salmon with herbs is cooked slowly and with low flames. It can be baked right on the platter you serve on and will retain its moisture magnificently. It can be baked for 40-45 minutes until the fish flakes. The color does not usually change very much when it’s done. It can be served with homemade tartar sauce mixed with lemon zest juice, mayonnaise and a small amount of hot sauce.
- The mouth watering grilled dilled salmon is done by putting dill on it which makes a lovely green mat once it’s cooked. It is easy to cook and is very delectable. Its original recipe has brown sugar on it that serves as a sweetener. Use your basic skill of how to grill a salmon and flip the fillet after two minutes if you are planning to eat the skin. Remove the skin when you notice that it seems to stay on the grill. Check if the fish is done with a fork. It will usually flake easily and turn opaque partially.
- In the crustless smoke salmon quiche, canned smoked salmon is used. It is easy to make and is great in any meal. The ingredients usually consist of eggs, milk, a large leek, pepper, mushrooms, mustard, thyme, hot sauce, salt, paprika and six ounces of salmon. This is prepared for at least 20 minutes and cooked for another 45 minutes. A tip while cooking the salmon is to cover it with foil if it’s getting too brown but the middle is too liquid. When it is done, the center will still be a bit loose but you should take it out of the oven to avoid overcooking it.
There are still a lot more different ways to prepare salmon. You just have to be creative and open in discovering new ways on how to cook this heart-healthy food for you and your family to enjoy.
