Halloween 07

Halloween

I got the idea for this hub from my son who reminded me that Halloween is just a couple of months away. Halloween has always been one of his favorite Holidays ever since he was very small. And I have to admit that for quite a few years I didn't share his enthusiasm, but in the last couple of years I've actually started to enjoy the decorating aspect of it. We have to leave most of our decorating until the actual day due to local teenage pranks but I have to say it doesn't look bad at all.

Funkin

Funkins

I have to say that one of our coolest decorations yet is the funkin. A funkin is a artificial carvable pumpkin which means that you can keep your masterpiece forever. A funkin is actually pretty easy to carve, so easy in fact that I can even do it. They come in all shapes and sizes. Most of the pumpkins that you see scattered around the porch are funkins. I was able to purchase them on ebay for a fairly good price.

Cemetary

Ghouls And Tombstones

No yard decorations would be complete without some ghouls and a few tombstones. If you're handy you can make your own with some styrofoam and a few simple tools. But if you're like me you're probably a little short of time so I buy most of my decorations. This can get a little expensive, so I just buy a few more things each year.

Skeleton Drinking Glasses

Cool Drinking Glasses

If you're serving drinks, a cool glass to serve them in is an absolute must. The Oriental Trading Co. has an excellent supply of Halloween items and you can in fact find these glasses there.

Skeleton

Halloween Skeleton

Probably the second most important decoration is the skeleton. You can find them in a lot of different shapes and sizes but the one that we settled on is a five foot plastic skeleton that we hung on the porch.

Halloween Spider

Black Spider

What about a spider? No Halloween scene is complete without a big black and scary spider looming overhead. Or maybe just lurking among the tombstones. We purchased our spider from wal-mart.

Scary Skulls

Skulls

Don't forget the skulls, these Styrofoam skulls look awesome scattered around your porch or cemetery setting. And they are also very affordable.

Witch Decoration

Halloween Witch

A silly witch decoration stuck to a tree ,or perhaps your house always add to the fun atmosphere. Or you might be going for more of the scary look, if so the witch in the second picture might better suit your tastes.

Halloween Food

Food

And last but not least is the Halloween food. When it comes to food you are never short of options and many of the recipes can be found quite easily right here on the Internet.

I've added a link to a page with the instructions to make your own crashing witch.

You will find the link just below the amazon.com adds.

Oh Karen I really loved your hub. I always loved decorating for Halloween inside and outside my home and always made a Halloween surprise for dinner. And sometimes it really did turn out to be a surprise! lol I loved looking at all the pictures and I especially loved the Halloween drinking glass and the witch crashing into the tree. Great hub.
