The office doesn’t have to be boring anymore. Why just have a normal office chair. Designers have been getting more and more creative with the way they design office furniture. Not only have they designed office weaponry, but now there are chairs that make work just a little bit more unusual.

The Personal Space Chair Desk

This chair or rather desk chair combination has been designed to give you the ultimate space in your work zone. It provides an enclosure to keep you feeling safe in your surroundings. Though the chair doesn’t keep your entirely enclosed, it does have some nice features. In the back are two high powered speakers that let you listen to music while you “work”. The whole thing is on wheels so you can easily move your entire workstation where you want to.

The Walkstation Desk

Shouldn’t we also get some exercise while we work on our computers? Steelcase invented a desk that makes you walk while you work. Who knows if its actually possible to be productive while walking and working on a computer, but who knows. As computers become more and more a part of our lives we are expected to be able to multitask with everything we do. Does anyone talk on the cell phone, drive, and change music at the same time? With the Walkstation Desk we will be running, typing our email, and answering phones. How much can one person handle?

Airplane Wing Desk

Mocoloco has create a desk made from a DC 3 Airplane wing, If you are a pilot, this is probably a must have. For anyone else, this is probably still something cool to have in your desk. How many people have airplane pieces for furniture? It's made by the dutch designer Dolph Bode who travels around the world to find the last parts of these historical planes." Don’t expect this desk to be cheap.

I can answer a lot of the questions here since I have been at a treadmill desk of my own now for 2 months. First, it works. I had back issues that have disappeared. I sleep like a baby at night and during the day I feel like I am on drugs....the good kind, endorphins. I walk 6 - 8 miles a day in my home office and sweating is not an issue unless I want to ramp it up a little while I am reading on the internet. I have lost 18 pounds already so I am a convert. The cost of the WalkStation is a concern for me but there is another product that offers more flexibility to use you own treadmill during the day as a desk and for exercise after work. It is called the TrekDesk. Pricing isnt set yet but it states on the TrekDesk website that it is going to be very affordable. They also are offering a pretty snazzy exercise ball chair that swings onto the treadmill (or off) for those moments when you have to sit. The website is www.trekdesk.com and has a lot of information on studies which focus on the long term benefits of walking. Hope this helps.
